Transgender.

No need to attack me, I know about hormones.

Estrogen and Testosterone will affect your physical attributes the most, but I agree with Teeny has to say, most of it is the socialization based on sex assigned at birth. There isn't typically an excess of these hormones unless you self induce them, sure sometimes there are more in certain people, but that doesn't sway them to the extent where they want to change their sex.

Most people don't give themselves a chance to learn about themselves and accept themselves for who they are, they try to jump to something that they want to be.  Most of the people who seem to be going through 'transgenderism' seem to have the problem of not knowing who they are.

EVERYONE goes through that stage, its a period of finding yourself, and I frankly don't believe that anyone knows who they are until they spend tons of time trying to figure it out. People automatically think that they are transgendered if they are having mixed feelings, or feeling more 'feminine'. But the biggest thing that needs to be understood is that stereotypes are a cause of the problem for people thinking this way.

IE. It's okay for guys to be soft , women not to be so soft.

I understand there is a hormonal factor, but it seems extremely minimal, if a person tries to experience life for who they are, and not be subjected to the fact that they are a specific sex. Just try to be who you are, and don't attach a sex to it. Accept your body, and accept that you need to find yourself, and if it still doesn't work, then perhaps consider that maybe this isn't the right thing. But I am highly against anyone thinking these kinds of thoughts unless they actually take the time to understand themselves.

Sex is meaningless if you don't find yourself.

What is 'feeling' like a guy?

What is 'feeling' like a girl?

I don't believe that hormones will create this kind of change in thought process, unless they are self inducing to an extreme extent.

Brain sex actually is a thing, but brains are so adaptable that a huge part of it is socialisation based on sex assigned at birth.

^ I agree with this. I can understand it having a factor, but not huge enough to make that kind of decision.

Sex dysphoria is also a thing though, and medical transition can and does help some people with it.

You clearly don't.

Now I'm no genius, but it looks like hormones communicate with the brain. Things like, oh I don't know, sensory perception, stress, mood. I could even say it affects BEHAVIORAL activities.

Our minds aren't a fucking mystery. We know what makes them tick, and its not god or a soul, its chemistry.

I didn't say it didn't affect our behaviors. Those are physical behaviors, that affect your MENTALITY to an extent. What I'm saying is that, that extent doesn't seem to stretch where it will make the following feelings of being transgendered.

'I feel like a man trapped in a woman's body' <-- I'm asking what does that feel like.

Versus.

' I feel like I share more similarities with a man, even though I'm a woman'...

Get off your high horse, this is supposed to be a DISCUSSION. Not an attack on someone. Jesus christ. AND READ what I wrote if you are going to respond.

I did read it, and I'm sorry to say. But those feelings are because of hormones. You can't just assume that I didn't read your argument, saying you share more similarities with a man when your a woman is not hormonal, thinking you are a man when you're a woman is hormonal.

And finally, what is a discussion without an argument? Stop hiding in your hug box.

I'm not sure that there is any evidence that trans people who have undergone no treatment at all yet have higher levels of opposite sex hormones. If they did, why would they need to take hormone therapy in transition? Do you have any sources on that, or?

They take hormone therapy to become more trans.

Yes, I just said that... in the very post you're replying to. The person I was responding to was saying that the reason people want to transition, the reason they think they are a girl trapped in a boy's body, etc, is hormonal and I was asking him if he has any sources to support that because it's not true as far as I know. It helps if you read the whole post before replying. :P

Lmao. Still didnt read what I said. And that's exactly what I was alluding to Teeny, even if there is a bit excess it shouldnt affect someone to that point. And I don't believe its a hormonal thing to make that mentality.

https://www.quora.com/What-causes-a-person-to-be-transgender

When the brains of transgender persons are analyzed they almost always consistently match the bain structure of their adopted gender not their birth sex.

Male to female transsexuals have female brain structures.

These changes are thought to be caused due to hormonal or chemical imbalances that cause the wrong hormones to be expressed by the mother prenatally.

There are a lot of problems with that article, as for one it appears that the data comes from trans individuals brains which are analysed after death, meaning they had likely already undergone hormone therapy so any hormonal changes to the brain cannot be determined to be innate or a product of treatment. It links to some studies showing brain differences in MRI of living trans people who had not get undergone hormone treatment, but does not link to any evidence that those brain changes are caused by hormones in the womb or as children. It states that the changes are thought to be caused by prenatal hormone differences, but has no sources to back that up. It also lists other factors thought to contribute to dysphoria and gender, which disputes your argument that it's all hormonal... it's generally fairly rare that anything will have one single, simple-to-define cause.

My point isn't its hormonal. But that saying being a transgender is simply choice and anyone could do it is wrong.

I'm really confused now. I'm just going to leave with, transgender is not a conscious decision.

Trans-trans genders are a thing (Those who change sex and then decide they are actually their "original" sex) so it is a choice to some extent.

I don't agree with it, you shouldn't change your natural form. Of course, if I said this in public I'd get more hate. I normally don't mind, but it is when "transgenders" start to kill themselves and then blame it on people", that I get upset. And then they commit suicide and expect for us to feel bad, when really they just wanted attention, and now they aren't get the attention because they are dead. Just my thoughts

I'm not saying they aren't a thing, I know one who goes to my school and he is annoying as fuck. I'm saying the only thing choosing to become that gender is their hormones. I won't wake up one day to say I want to be a girl. It's hormones who decide that.

How do you feel about Transgender Males/Females? As a TG Male myself (becoming a woman), I'd just like to know everyone's opinions on the matter. What do you think of others doing this, and would you ever consider it? It's hard, but I'll get thru it eventually.

Wouldn't people usually say that you're a transgender woman if you're a man becoming a woman? I thought that was how it worked.

Wow, nice thoughts.

The way I've often seen it written (and I think most clearly) is MtF Transgender (Male to Female) or FtM Transgender (Female to Male). If you can think of a better way then go for it, I don't really think there's a "universal" way to say/write it.

There's been a lot of discussion arguing about what the reasons are for wanting to be transgender, and whether those reasons justify a change like that. But really, even if the only reason is because "I want to," shouldn't that be enough? Who gives a shit what they want to do? I certainly don't, I have more important things to worry about.
