Yup, this works if you don't wish to root your phone.

[Guide] How to get your shared secret from android WITHOUT ROOT! (Steam Mobile) v1.2

https://youtu.be/1rby7r2Z7qo

Step 1 :: Preparing

  • download a copy of adb(android debug bridge comes with android sdk) for your android version aswell as android backup extractor i made a prepared rar archive you can get it here
  • extract the files of the rar archive anywhere on your pc e.g. desktop
  • enable usb debugging on your phone (it might be different for your device/android version example here)
  • connect your phone to your pc using a usb cable
  • you also need Java installed. so if its not installed install it ;) however most pcs have that already
  • (optional) check if adb is working using the command adb devices (if a device shows up its working)
  • for some phones you have to install usb drivers first just google for it if needed
Step 2 :: Create a Backup of your Steam App
  • run "run me.bat"
  • confirm that you want to backup the steam app on your phone (as written in the console window)
  • open steam.tar (i used winrar) your steamguard file should be inside \apps\com.valvesoftware.android.steam.community\f extract and open it
Step 3 :: ???

Step 4 :: Profit!

Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial. I did it and I can confirm it does work.

My problem was getting the adb command prompt up and working. Complete pain in the ass with issues regarding the usb drivers, java updates, and getting adb to recognize my device. An hour later, I finally got all the kinks fixed.

As I stated earlier, you're missing the point here. It's not that I wouldn't like to root my phone, but my lease with my provider would put me up a shit creek if I rooted and then voided the warranty. I'd prefer to not pay the full $699 for my phone because they won't take it back. So in theory, yeah, who wouldn't want to root, but this isn't possible for those of us that didn't buy the phone outright.

I see your point here, but, actually, 1st. You can unroot your phone any time. 2nd warranty goes away for software. It means, nobody will fix it if it will get a hard break. Your warranty will not be void for everything else (screen, camera and other phone parts).

would be great if you could tell us if it works now

So I have 2 new separate issues. I'm not sure if the auto accept is working yet because I'm getting these 2 errors.

BP%20Automatic%20Issue_zpsbqveg4qb.jpg

The first was where the user attempted to provide change with an item he was trading for on my side (he gave me 2 reclaimed, I gave him 2 items listed for 2 scrap each, plus 2 scrap change).

That seemed to work before escrow in the old automatic version, so this might be an issue for Dr. McKay to look into.

The 2nd one I just have no idea what the HTTP error 403 is about. Happened similarly 3 other times this morning.

As I understand it once I put in the identity in secret all trades meeting bp.tf sell orders should be accepted and confirmed but I still need to confirm my trades via mobile app.

I've tried both the:

identity_secret <Steam ID ty567345345gfdfg>
identity_secret Ab1C32GHghj098dCgtC6969=

types of code. Not the exact codes but you get the picture.

It does successfully accept it though even if it will be held, as I set it to.

I am running the backpack.tf-automatic-1.1.3-all.zip, which is the current version, though once run the bot says v1.1.1

Am I doing anything incorrectly?

Got an issue where its sending heartbeats, but when there's an offer, it does absolutely nothing. However, if I manually accept it, then it does autoconfirm correctly. I'm using 1.1.3

One issue: Every time you turn on your bot will have to put the secret identity ???

The functional this bot, however today had to put again to be automatic, before he was awaiting confirmation.

I'm using version 1.1.3 on Linux.

Hello, I have a problem where it cannot connect to my phone. I've got usb debugging enabled (unless I skipped a step) but I'm still getting this issue.

I'm sure the drivers are properly installed, since I can copy this screenshot over.

Here are some screenies:

since you are running android 5.0.2 you may need a newer version of adb you can get the newest one here https://mega.nz/#!E0pBVIBI!fTrNv8az4VpdW4pzAnZEH50UsiIQ0pkU_MF3DFBSoow just replace the files in the folder you downloaded earlier

if that doesnt work you may try installig the android sdk https://dl.google.com/android/installer_r24.4.1-windows.exe there are drivers n stuff whcih you may download with that

if anything of that helps please tell me so i can edit my guide ;)

not that i have a unrooted phone or anything BUT some phone have a special piece of hardware just to keep track of custom rooms aka root access if you ever had that it will always be tagged and this can NOT be removed (if you want more informations about that google for Knox. Note: the app triangle away does only work on older versions of knox the newest version can not be tricked)

If you are going into rooting, there is almost NO CHANCE that you will not be able to fix if something fucks up. Otherwise there is still a warranty for everything else except software. I had flashed MANY things on my shit old samsung galaxy ace 2 and fucked up a lot, had a soft brick, had boot loops and other shits which couldnt open recovery or just boot up. Flashing stock os via odin fixes everything. As far as you can open download mode, you are okay.

Now I am getting something that says "warn: Unable to accept offer #xxxxxxxx: HTTP error 403" whenever a matching offer is sent, started 3 days ago for me I think.

Running the latest version 1.1.3.

EDIT: 12/26/2015 Getting a 503 error now too.

I click on the 1.1.3 download. It downloads a zip with 1.1.3 in its name.

However, once unzipped, the package.json says 1.1.1 in it.

Is that intentional?
