What makes Donald Trump seem like he would be right for the presidency?

I remember seeing a poll a while back saying Trump was the least likable candidate in 25 years.

He apparently improved a bit ... Though Bernie is the only candidate who's more liked then disliked

You guys are all assuming it's going to be Bernie when he just got stomped in the most recent caucus.

Think Hilary won Nevada, narrowly though

He's getting stomped because of name recognition. Hillary Clinton is a household name, especially in Black and Latino communities. And if a Democrat wants to win, they need the minority vote. As long as he gets his name out there and talks about his civil rights stances and achievements, he has a good chance at winning.

Ninja Edit: I'm talking about (upcoming) South Carolina, where blacks make up more than half of the Democratic primary vote. He only lost Nevada by five points or so; minority outreach and, partially, media portrayal are the only real obstacles to his campaign.

Until Bernie ditches the socialist approach to every bloody thing he is doing he will never get voted in. He really needs to ditch the main message which any half decent educated person can see which is literally "we are going some how going to pull money magically out of our asses to give free shit for everyone!" and focus on things which are actually plausible which attempt to amend the national debt instead of making it worse.

His goals are good but when you look at his suggested way to achieve his goals is borderline insane. Wants to tax companies more, raise minimum wage, free education, better healthcare...etc all those require a fuck load of money and that's money he has absolutely no real plan to acquire, not to mention the disastrous effects on long term employment. If you think that simply increase tax on companies and lowering the top tax brackets will be enough it probably wont even make a dent, one of the bigger issues is the national debt and he has no viable plan to fix that instead he is going to make it worse by literally throwing money at every problem.

Berie's top contributer actually is Google (Alphabet Inc is basically the offical company name)

... though of course: to point out some perspective: Bernie's second biggest donor - univisity of Callifornia - donated nearly 8 times more to Hilleray then to Bernie (making it Hilleray 7th largest donor)

I'm not a Trump supporter but I saw this today. Somewhat relevant.

Bernie doesn't have the convenience of simply being a douchebag in order to gain popularity, so I'm not sure how meaningful that really is.

Bernie doesn't have the convenience of simply being a douchebag in order to gain popularity, so I'm not sure how meaningful that really is.

Not even that - it's simply comparing apples with oranges: Bernie isn't running against Rubio & Cruz, while Trump isn't running against Hillary (not to mention, other people are voting).

It's like saying pointing saying

  • spaceships don't need to spend virtually energy to keep momentum
  • drills have to spend a lot of energy to keep momentum
  • so spaceship engines are much more efficient
(obviously not: engine efficiency has nothing to do with this: it's because there is no resistance in space; while drilling in earth is nothing but resistance)

If we compare other apples with oranges: one could point out Trump is always <50%, while Bernie got New Hamshire with 60.4%. Ergo Bernie is better :P

But if we start comparing appls with apples: virtually every poll that pits Sanders vs Trump, gives it to Sanders.

For the joke to work, they would have been better of pitting Trump against Jeb (who spend ~130 million)

And the conclusion would be, that there's a growing trend people are sick & tired of the establishment

If Trump were elected, I bet a lot of people would immigrate to Canada.

I bet not much more than 0 people would migrate if Trump won. Such reason to leave your home, job and friends is beyond childish.

If and when Bernie loses the Democratic nomination, hopefully that reasoning is still valid. "Oh Bernie wasn't running against Rubio and Cruz so of course he lost and Trump won."

That's like saying 420k people voted for Trump because he's a douchebag. Way to insult the intelligence of the majority.

Again, I'm not a Trump supporter, but damn this circlejerk for Bernie is out of control.

"Oh Bernie wasn't running against Rubio and Cruz so of course he lost and Trump won."

There is no "of course".

If Bernie loses, it's gonna be because more democrates voted on Hillary*.

If Bernie wins, it's gonna be because less democrates voted on Hillary*.

That's what you get when democrates vote between Bernie & Hillary.

(*discounting the messed up democratic party nominee system)

Bernie running against Rubio and Cruz in a primairy makes NO SENSE AT ALL. (he'd presumably win in a democratic primairy, and presumably lose in a republican primairy)

Bernie running against Rubio and Cruz in the final election would win - if only for the fact that he'd get all the democratic votes, while the republican votes would be split between the duo.

That's like saying 420k people voted for Trump because he's a douchebag. Way to insult the intelligence of the majority.

Firstly, the majority of republicans don't vote for Trump, you know ...

(this, in fact, could end up a problem, because to get the nomination, the republican caucas rules say he needs 50%; or else they can decide)

Secondly, it's not insulting. Populist positions, fear mongring, playing the crowd, etc ... these things WORK. At best, the insult made is that the people of the U.S. are as human as the rest of the world.

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

You are right.

Bernie is running against Hillary, and so far, Bernie is losing.

Trump is running against Rubio and Cruz, and so far, Trump is winning.

And Trump is doing so at a quarter of the cost. It doesn't matter who their opponents are. What matters are the results (so far).

Secondly, it's not insulting. Populist positions, fear mongring, playing the crowd, etc ... these things WORK.

Are you implying that the voters (420000 of them) are voting for Trump because of populist positions, fear mongering and playing the crowd?
