Cave has a track record of repaying a loss like this, if the site ends up going down than hes gonna go out repaying these losses

That is fucking horrendous, but...
When are people going to realize that your own money is only completely safe in your OWN hands???

This just feels like the bot equivalent of the many times people paid somebody a commission to broker their items, and going "Make me money." We all know how well that went lmao.

I hope everybody does get their money back, but, I would strongly advise looking into ways to do what they do yourself, rather than putting your full trust onto something 3rd party, because you have to realize. If they wanted to make out like bandits, (not saying they would), they could.

Never
feel like it's unreasonable to not trust somebody else with your own money, no matter their trustworthiness, no matter their track record, no matter their size. Because even things as "indestructible" as banks can fail, and when they do, they can give you the middle finger down to the FDIC insured amount. Oh, and don't worry, it'll only take 6 months for you to get that money back!

I'm a trader who's been trading for about 11 years now albeit on and off. I've always thought it was better to trade with a person to person and not utilizing a bot. Plus I always thought it was fun to trade even if I don't get to play much these days. ^_^ I agree with you here, duskfen.

If youre referencing party here, thats a whole nother segment for a different time. I wont get into that here.

Okay but.. its not.

*usually* third party sites for trading have extra security steps, such as encrypting transactions and data.

You hear of people getting scammed/hacked a lot more frequently than you hear of a site getting hacked. I dont know the extensive details as to the security measures that gladiator has, but im pretty sure its stronger than my steam account.

Sites dont get hacked often, but when they do, its usually by someone whos extremely sophisticated and has access to tools that they shouldnt have.

Unless we are talking VAC. Pretty sure a monkey could bypass that.

This is certainly a rare occasion that happened.

One word.
Trust.

You are still putting your trust on whether a place has the tippity top security to keep your money safe. It doesn't matter if it's an individuals trust or if it's trusting a site's integrity. If you and your steam account got hacked, you had to of done something to make that happen, and you can personally combat the issue. If their site got hacked, they are the ones in control of that, and you can't do anything but watch and trust them.

Gladiator/cave didn't lose 120k. Their users did. All gladiator loses is users of their (Clearly incompetently run service) and whatever they decide to give to victims.

I hope Gladiator reimburses whoever lossed their stuff. That's rough to see this happen.

"gladiator.tf got hacked once again, lost 100k (USD) worth of tf2 items, all put into this one backpack."

only one backpack? that's as stupid as leaving a crucial server open to the internet

cave seemed like a nice guy,a shame.i hope the void he leaves open gets filled by an equally-goodwilled person

possibly the end of the “buy order” era, so back to the old days where buyers don’t matter

people can always code their own bots ofc, but wide scale bot ownership will def fall off unless gladiator thing of some genius strategy to recover

best i can come up with is free bot trial to everyone with fine print saying we owe everything left in the bot's backpack after trial ends
