TheLetterZed
I have a different perspective. These low-tier effects are great for exploiting arbitrage in the market. I find myself buying low-tier Unusuals to immediately flip on the Steam Community Market. Sometimes, the buy orders on SCM are much higher than what someone is selling it for on a cash site. Here's a bunch I've personally bought and immediately flipped, all were Massed Flies / Nuts n' Bolts / Confetti. It's a nice way to get a discount on Steam balance. I normally make 15% - 25% in Steam Balance. There's better deals if you're willing to look at Counter Strike skins too. Everything combined in these images are a 22% profit after fees, which is the low end of what I flip. I can make much more on these if I patiently sell with SCM Sell prices instead of quick selling SCM Buy prices. `Yahiamice
Mcfighter2
I'd argue that Massed Flies is better than half of the effects we have now, since the majority of them these days are indistinguishable energy slop with names that describe nothing. At least Massed Flies looks like an effect made for Team Fortress 2 and has some of the best theming potential out of any effect. Better than even Nuts n Bolts and Orbiting Planets for that reason. If I were to make a tierlist for all unusuals, Massed Flies would be at least in C tier.
