Pyrocide
9...9...900D.... SLI 780s.... OMG Yea, the lian case I have is great and all, but gets WAY too hot in there for all the power i have going. 900D should remedy that. Just FYI, I skip generations of nvidia cards, buying a new card or set of cards every year is a waste IMO. I had a single GTX260 then moved to CF6970s, hated CCC so I got the 580s. Waiting on the final specs for 780s and benchmarks to see if its worth it or not. I want to run MWO & Metro LL at 1440p w/ max settings without dipping below 50FPS. The 12GB SLI DDR5 VRAM from dual titans is tempting though....

The 12GB SLI DDR5 VRAM from dual titans is tempting though.... Two things: It's not 12GB RAM with dual TITANS. They share the memory. In total, it's 6GB VRAM. Second: Upgrade on years where they release a new microarchitecture. That was the 400 Series, 600, and 800. 600 series was Kepler. 700 is Kepler, too. 800 will be Maxwell, and it'll be awesome. I would wait
silencedotmid
Why do so many of you use rigs with 12 or 16 gb of ram? In my experience, even when video editing and other intensive things, anything higher than 8 GB is just a waste of money. Also, laptop master race. Lenovo Y580 is bretty gud

I'm pretty sure i've seen system builders offering up builds with 16GB of RAM, and a 6670. I use roughly 8-10GB of memory daily from the VMs I have running that serve as a media server and various other projects I run at my home. 16 is more than enough to do all what I need and still have enough resources to do what I want without fear of bogging down my system. My laptop only has 8GB in it. But only because I had the extra RAM laying around. Two things: It's not 12GB RAM with dual TITANS. They share the memory. In total, it's 6GB VRAM. I would wait Right now I am pretty solid in the gaming department for hardware vs games out. I don't see a need to upgrade any time soon, but I am considering doing a new build with the new 4th Gen i7 and dual 780s. I will have to look into what you said about the titans, I was under the impression it would have 6GB VRAM on each card and be able to access both when in SLI. Currently in the process of installing Slack64-Current and Win7 dual boot. Giant pain in the ass.
There
I will have to look into what you said about the titans, I was under the impression it would have 6GB VRAM on each card and be able to access both when in SLI. Yes. Kind of. But both cards must process the same information. Processing said information requires the same memory. So they both mirror each other. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/339028-33-does-crossfire-double-dedicated-memory That being said, 6GB is way overkill, even for three monitors at 2560x1440. Pyrocide
I think u meant to say 7680x1440 but I understood what you were trying to get at. I was right in a technicality but understand that you will not have an overall 12GB of VRAM in your system. Makes sense though when you look at it. Hunter
Might as well ask here. I want to build a ~$700 rig this summer with my internship money, I'm just looking for something that plays games well obviously. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/14fa8 This is what I was thinking, over my price because of the monitor but I don't really care as the only other option I really have is a this piece of crap that I have lying around. I wanted to maintain the 2GB video ram, and this one has a slightly higher clock speed than the other option. Video cards in general actually confuse me, I don't understand why multiple brands produce the same card or w/e.
