Need some help on how to make my Laptop run faster.

I have a Windows 7 Presario Compaq that I have had for like 3 years and it has gotten so slow lately.

I Googled some ways to help improve speed and I tried all of them. It got faster....a lot faster. Then a week later, here I am and it's slower than ever. Not exactly sure what to do. I have also started to get these Blue Screens and then on reboot it says " Windows is trying to recover form an Unexpected Shutdown "

No clue on what I should do.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried to defrag your computer? You could also download Gamebooster Pro if you haven't done so already.

Buy a new computer.

If not make sure there aren't any unneccesary programs continuously running in the background.

Don't have the funds right now to buy another one. Also, will do. thanks.

Stop downloading porn...

I don't download it.....

What is defragging? lol. Also, I am gonna look up GB Pro. Thanks.

If it don't work,

stick your d-ck in it.

My motto.

Click start button, type %temp% and delete every file you see. It worked for me(Laptop).

Does this honestly work? I just deleted 1.5 GB's of shit that was in that folder. Also, is a reboot necessary?

Download and run Malwarebytes, if there is any malicious files on the system, it will remove detect and remove them for you.

Make sure there are no updates available, BSODs are usually caused by driver errors. Make sure everything is up to date.

Run Disk Defragmenter (click the start button and type defrag, should come up easily). It will see if there are any sections of memory that are out of order. Your boot files may have become defragmented, causing the BSODs.

If that doesn't help, run a chkdsk. Open Computer, right click on your main hard drive, click properties, click tools, click check now and follow the instructions.

Reboot when you feel you have done enough, it will make all the changes you have made take effect.

That should diagnose and repair the issues, should have it running quicker.

I didn't reboot, but it worked for me. Chrome would usually freeze when I'm doing something(Watching porn, anime, anime, porn, etc), apps slowed down hella before I deleted like... Half hour of files. And somewhat made TF2 less laggier for me.

lol, thanks a bunch Wubsies. Usually when I am doing a Price Suggestion, I open up a bunch of tabs on Outpost and it freezes/lags very bad. Then I get a Blue screen and an unexpected shutdown. Also, my laptop lags so bad, steam trades don't even work. lol. I just sit there for ~5 minutes for it to work. Thanks again.

No problem c: That happened to me also, and my PC is the same age as yours. I just delete files from the temp folder every month just so I don't try to punch a hole in my monitor.

Yeah, that is right, you can download it here.

https://www.malwarebytes.org/

Free version is good enough, the paid for version gives you more detailed logs for scans, and passively scans all the time, whereas you have to tell the free version to tell it to start scanning. That is fine, the passive scans would take up more processing power anyway.

1st of all. Don't install any PCcleaner or booster idk. These are spywares, they make your pc run slowerer.

Then, defrag your pc (Google it)

Then uninstall your web browser(s) and reinstall 'em.

Then delete of the "Toolbar", "PC Cleaner" or any kind of shit or another software you don't use anymore.

If it takes time to boot your pc up then press Windows + R, a window appears and type "msconfig" then click "booting" and untick most of the software execpt Windows stuff.

I hope I helped you. And sorry if I did spelling mistakes, it's very late in my country. ;)

Thanks for reading.

+1 malwarebytes

+1 uninstall unused programs like toolbars coupon printers and other "shitware" or "bloatware" like McAfee Security Scan...

+1 msconfig unchecking items that you normally dont use. For instance I only use teamviewer once in a while but i unchecked it because the service is running in the background taking up resources.

Uninstall unused programs. Eg. if you havent used vmware player, as an example, for 6+ months have dont have anything to use it for planned, get rid of it. No sense in having it take up space when its going unused.

start > defrag and disk cleanup your c:\ drive after you uninstall everything you want/can

What antivirus are you running? That can also be a resource hog, for slow machines I suggest MSE. Very lightweight.

If you are running chrome i assume you have extensions etc correct? Possibly delete or disable the ones you no longer need. Install ABPlus if you havent already got it. Saves having to load some bullshit ads everytime you enter a site.

Go into device manage and disable hardware you dont need/use. Webcam, bluetooth etc. Goes along with msconfig, if bluetooth hardware is down, no sense in running the bluetooth service.

DO NOT install PC Booster or RegCleaner or TuneUp Utilities or any of that "speed up your pc with my spyware loaded shitware". Just a big waste of time and doesnt even work half the time.

Delete old restore points and limit the usage space for it if you even want it on.

Open the laptop up, clean the fins of the heatsink with cans of air. If you know how, might go one step further and reapply quality paste as well.

Consider a lightweight browser like Opera if you just need fast browsing.
