backpack.tf / Stats.tf disparity - Freedom feathers

Heya folks,

 

Bought myself a Freedom feathers on the pretence that they were somewhat rare, according to backpack.tf level distribution. Without adding it up, I can be certain that according bp.tf, there are no more than 1,900 as 19 is the greatest count out of the 100 levels (although in reality the figure is far lower than this). However, stats.tf estimates 3693 clean birds.

 

Some examples:

 

lv 1:

 

bp.tf count - 7 items

stats.tf count - 264 items

 

lv 25:

 

bp.tf count - 5 items

stats.tf count - 190 items

 

Chances are I'm lacking some key knowledge required to understand this and nothing out of the ordinary is going on here. If someone could explain the situation I'd be very grateful.

Well, the first issue is that you're looking at the Unique Freedom Feathers. Most of the clean Freedom Feathers would be of the Haunted quality: http://backpack.tf/stats/Haunted/Freedom%20Feathers/Tradable/Craftable  And it seems to me that stats.tf is counting all qualities in its count.

 

Second issue is that most of the unique halloween items from last year were found inside gift boxes, so they are non-tradable/craftable,and wouldn't show up on the bp.tf Tradable and Craftable Unique Freedom Feathers page.  In reality, there are over 23,000 Freedom Feathers floating about, it's just that only ~3700 are clean, and ~3000 of them are Haunted.

So It would be correct to say there are only ~700 unique freedom feathers in circulation? Thanks for the info ^.

 

Somewhat related second question: Is there a way to easily calculate the total count for levels 1-100 (on bp.tf) without adding them up individually?

Shows a grand total of 826 Unique/Tradable/Craftable ones in existence, though more might be hidden in private backpacks. The rarest level is 82 with only one floating around out there, and the most common is 53 with 19 of them.

 

One big thing to keep in mind though, the Halloween items are still purchasable in the store, so quantities can always increase, but admittedly, few people are willing to spend $7.50 on something like that.

Nope. Store purchased cosmetics are craftable.

Ahh, my bad. I'd read '' The November 29, 2012 Patch changed this such that cosmetic items bought from the store are craftable'' incorrectly. Cheers for being patient with my ignorance.
