Which is 698 - 95. Which implies that https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Category:Unusual_items has 698 - 95 = 603 hats, which is wrong. As I have written in the beginning, this page has only 600 hats. (599 unboxable, 1 non-unboxable). The other 3 unusual items on this page are: 1. haunted metal, 2. haunted axe which is made from this metal, 3. and something else, cant remember, but it is not a cosmetic. Colonel Johnson
1 hour ago, Übermensch_saveTF2 said: Thank you all for information, very helpful. So it happens that there is an unusual: Bill Hat - https://backpack.tf/suggestion/5049bc219ae21a4f79000000 Max's Severed Head - https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_miscellaneous_reward_item_owners Cheater's Lament - https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_miscellaneous_reward_item_owners Houwar - https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_miscellaneous_reward_item_owners Ebenzer - https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/List_of_miscellaneous_reward_item_owners Summer Hat - https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/iu82vf/can_someone_explain_how_this_guy_have_a_nebula/ (it seems like this is a bug reported reward too, wiki just misses it) Summer Shades/Towering Shades - couldn't find any evidence of existence Spine Skull - couldn't find any evidence of existence Now if we will consider at least the first 6 hats in this list, it is now more possible hats than stated on the wiki, instead of 603 ,there at least 600 + 6 hats. Which is kinda dissapointing because I was thinking that the missing 3 hats could be unboxed, it seemed logical since all 599 cosmetics could be technically unboxed, except Finder's Fee. Anyway thank you everyone for information, will be appreciative if someone knows anything else about any other hats (also the Summer Shades/Towering Shades and Spine Skull listed above). For the Spine Skull: this video at 0:55 (however, you may not consider it Unusual since it's Self-Made?). Hugh Jackman

Btw, glitched/rewarded Unusuals are not counted towards this list intentionally. The categorisation of these items is automatically done through the infobox you see on each page, if it has "Unusual" as an available quality only then is it put in the category. So this one missing hat can't be one that is obtained through a non-standard method.
Grampa Swood
There should be 600 hats and then it also counted the scrap metal, headtaker, and the unusualifier. Should be fixed now.

Community shotguns, rockets, etc all exist and have been given to people like the dudes who ran tip of the hats (tipped lid was based on this event) self made items will have flavor text that says “I made this!” even though you can be technical about this , it has haunted ghosts as an effect making it more than just self made/community, pretty much no other community sparkle is like this, making it a unique exception. Even shit like self made max and big kill are just community sparkles and those are ultra rare

Should be still consider the Spine Skull an Unusual since it has, as the item description says, an "Unusual Effect", not considering the item quality itself? What about every cosmetic with the Genteel Smoke effect, then?

What about every cosmetic with the Genteel Smoke effect, then? map stamps, genteel smoke, music note etc are all considered “decorative effects” on the wiki, which are seperate from any unboxable unusual effects they can be considered unusual effects, if you are the kind of guy to consider a haunted scrap metal or head taker a true unusual. its really just splitting hairs at the end of the day. the og story is that valve offered the dude any unusual hat with any effect because he was sick, and it got turned into a community item as a result of (I’m assuming) valve being valve since it was one of the first charity related unusuals and they didn’t have a set standard yet
