Unusual tier list for grouped effect searching

We know bubbling to storm/circling is 'bad', most new effects are good and burning flames to roboactive is 'godly' (and bonzo the all gnawing is number one), so why dont we use the pricesheet to create an unusual effect tier list and then use that to filter unusuals with specific effects?

Just like an extra drop-down box with low to high tier selections and when you click one it automatically chooses all those effects in that tier and shows you the listings for hats with that effect.

Unless there's already something like that, even still I think it'd be a good plugin idea anyway

A question:

Why would we need a tier chart if we constantly get new unusual effects and some are limited or become less expensive over time?

1.

Because sometimes it's cool to have a downgrade. Sometimes you just don't want an expensive hunk of leather with some random lights flying around it, you might want some stinky flies or a massive peace sign going around your head. Are you really going to sift through listings for an allclass hat but with one effect applied to the search factors repeatedly and hope there's one that'll fit your price range? You could just have every low tier effect on an all class (or single class) searched up without going backwards and forwards.

2. Because it's nice to be super mega organised, and we already have one in the form of the 'browse by effect' page, but this would be more of a chart the code for list searching could follow.

If it had this tier chart, it could work out what would be considered 'high tier' or 'low tier' and then show the appropriate listings, and it could even help to price new effects depending on where they could sit on the tier chart.

The tier chart would of course have to be made by a non-human brain since if a human made a tier chart it'd be incredibly biased and clearly that's already happened and will continue to happen throughout the course of history.

Using calculations based on current supply and demand of all unusual effects, the amount that exist, hat to effect price ratio and prices that they would immediately be listed as, as soon as they have been unboxed, the chart would be able to determine where an unusual sits and then organise listings, IF WANTED, to the user. Thus saving time sifting through countless newer hats and effects trying to work out if it's really worth that much, will it sell/resell, or just for general interest.

What's the benefits for 1:1 god tier hats if no one ever puts them up for listings?

Good question and I haven't thought of it yet but I have to go to sleep so will answer later

You can already search for multiple effects at the same time.

You can also search for a hat and view all effects that are listed for sale

Effectively, there's already an effect tierlist built-in to the website here: https://next.backpack.tf/effects just sort by price

Because the actual quality of unusual affects is largely made up. We invented it, and it has no actual basis  as far as any definitive qualities go, and they change constantly over time. Also 'themed' pairings exist, so a downgrade isn't always a downgrade. This shit is subjective, and the only metric that actually matters is the suggested price, because it's based on how much the item actually sells for.
