Sometimes they don't work for sell (and probably buy) orders as well, but for price changes they have always worked successfully; if you have any issues, I suggest you checking on the various items you want the alerts for if you have correctly selected the alert icon (the green one with the eye; if darker, it means it has been activated) and if it has been recorded on your Alerts section on the site options. Not 100% efficient, but it surely is helpful for orders and price updates; helped me a lot for getting a few items I wanted fast and easily.
