Essoplerck
Yeah, I'm going to build a new pc and I've decided what parts I want and I've already ordered some parts. Anhus™
I actually have no idea why it is more than $1700; btw, get an r9 270, not the x variant. The r9 270 only require one six pin, and overclocks much, much better...
Essoplerck
well, my PSU cant handle that (probably) and the stock performance is much better on the 270x version.
Marik
You should get a PSU with a higher wattage, for future upgrades or overclocking since the MSI recommended 500W for the R9 270X.

MeatballHLM
That is some fancy specs mate! My new PC is nothing that great. Only i5 4440 with GTX 750 ti and 8 GB RAM, but damn it can play Thief at max settings (without AA) at 1080p. I got steady 60+ fps. My older PC with core2duo, 4 gb ram and radeon 5670 can't even play thief at lowest settings! You should buy some nice keyboard and mouse, or secondly monitor if you like to watch porn and gaming at same time.

AwesomeMcCoolName
Do you do video/photo editing? Or is this just for gaming? If you're not doing any editing then you should save some money by getting an i5-4670k. Also, theres no point int getting a Z87 board without an overclockable cpu, also why only 500gb? the price difference for the extra 500gb is negligible. Oh, and eww radeon. When I built mine, I didnt really have a budget, but I got all of the parts I wanted (and the specs that i wanted) for about $950. It runs any game that I want and I have lots of room to expand at a later date. My recomondation is just to cut down on the super expensive parts, but it's your money, do with it as you please. For example: Intel makes expensive processors (especially the i7, their competitor, AMD, makes about the same specs for somewhat less)
Alex From Security
WD Blue WD5000LPVX, 500GB - Go for 1 TB. Fills up fast. And get the black edition. Microsoft Windows 8.1 NL OEM 64-bit - No. Get windows 7 first. Partition some space, install 8 and see how you like it.
Vegan T-Rex
Yup. Do go for a bigger HDD, SFM will take up a lot of space anyway. Windows 8 is OK really, it boots up quick. And with a budget like that, you should get an SSDAlso, an i5 is still fine.
There
If you're doing SFM/Rendering, the i7 may be worth it. But if you're not going to get the K variant, there is no reason to buy the H100i. It is actually a waste of money. Intel has calculated what adequate cooling for your specific CPU at stock frequency is, and the cooler that comes with it is ample. If you don't think it is, you could pick up a Hyper 212 or any other air cooler. But if you're not overclocking, don't buy an expensive cooling solution. Speaking of which, because you can't overclock with your specific CPU model, there is actually no reason to spend the extra money on a Z87 motherboard. H87 is exactly the same thing, minus the extra components for overclocking that you will be unable to use. If you do want to overclock, pick up the i7 4770K, it might be worth it. I would also question why you're getting an i7 and 8GB of RAM. Truthfully, very few tasks will actually benefit from the hyperthreading on the i7. The i7's additional power will only be noticeable in tasks like high end video editing, in which a mere 8GB of RAM would be less than you need. For gaming, with your specific graphics card, you will see no benefit from the i7. In fact, it may be detrimental to your FPS. If you're doing SFM/other video editing that requires a lot of CPU/RAM, you might want to consider buying more RAM. (or downloading more) Corsair isn't an amazing choice for an SSD. Sure, it'll work, but I would spend the extra money to pick up a Samsung SSD. Also, I would recommend buying a 1 TB drive rather than a 500 GB one. The price differential is literally nothing, and it's an extra, what, $10? This one would work well: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001IEXU68/?tag=pcpapi-20 I'm sure you have one in mind, or already own one, but you might want a case Also, I would opt for a 600W power supply. 450W probably will be enough, but most experts recommend some decent padding if you ever want to upgrade in the future... Which you probably will. I don't know what games you play exactly, but you might want to get a 280 or 280X instead of the 270. If you're just playing TF2, with some SFM, the 270 might be enough. Good luck

For example: Intel makes expensive processors (especially the i7, their competitor, AMD, makes about the same specs for somewhat less) This is true, but SFM does't run that well on AMD CPU's (and there are no AM3+ socket mITX Mobos) WD Blue WD5000LPVX, 500GB - Go for 1 TB. Fills up fast. And get the black edition. Microsoft Windows 8.1 NL OEM 64-bit - No. Get windows 7 first. Partition some space, install 8 and see how you like it. I have 1000 GB of space on my PC now, and I only use like 254 GB. With my 500 GB HDD + 120 GB SSD I have more than plenty of room. Also, my brothers had W8 on it, and I liked it! Yup. Do go for a bigger HDD, SFM will take up a lot of space anyway. Windows 8 is OK really, it boots up quick. And with a budget like that, you should get an SSD Also, an i5 is still fine. Well, Hyper threading helps with rendering (SFM) and video streaming. With is 90% of what I use my PC for. If you're doing SFM/Rendering, the i7 may be worth it. Good luck I knew my h100i is a (bit) overkill, but yolo! (I should never ever say that again...) Also, under 100% load my system whould use like 390w so Im still in the safe zone. And Ya, I could buy a bigger HDD. And, I dont play that many games, so if it can run on my current GPU (with is crap) it will probably work on the 270x

AMD recommends at least 500W+ for the card you have in mind, and I would generally go a bit above that. It's not worth taking risks. (although nothing truly "horrible" can go wrong with too weak of PSU, still) The H100i isn't "a bit" overkill, it's a huge waste of money. You will see literally NO DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE with the H100i and a cheap Hyper 212. I'm saying you need to buy a bigger HDD. The difference in price between 500 and 1000 GB is practically nothing for the additional 500 GB you're getting. Okay, sure, was just checking
