If there is a way to save money people will use it, I'm sure people would pay less for items with original ids past 10b if they thought it would work (s2g if you fuckers start doing this). It only works because the "dupes are worth less" mantra has been around since dupes have been around so it's just hard to shake that off. And technically it's still correct for the extremely rare items where the cleaner the item is the more it's worth, and if you actually care about that you're already checking the histories of every potential item you buy so filter becomes redundant. In regards to the main post, afaik this is impossible due to how dupes are just stored as a single item in the database and are given the flag if item ids appear out of order.
