What does bumping your listings even do?

Title. It's been changed so the only listings you see on the homepage are promoted listings, so what does bumping one's non-promoted listings even do? Is there a way to change it so you see non-promoted listings by default on the homepage?

It helps putting your listings at the top when someone looks for your item. It also weeds out inactive users that don't bump their listings.

But item listings are sorted by price, so if your price is cheaper it'll always be at the top. So unless you're selling for the same price as others, there's no point to bumping your listings often?

I'd still bump my listings to let people know that you're around and that your item is still available. If they see that you don't bump often, they might pick someone else instead if they think the item's been sold.

Yes

it puts it at the top of those at the same price

It's just so that the people who aren't active don't show first, otherwise you'd have problems with sending trade offers to people who are AFK when you could simply send an offer to someone active at exactly the same value

Just curious, if no one is actively searching for your item and the item isn't even sponsored, is there even a point to bumping?

Like if it's for an unusual hat and people are just searching by the paramaters of Cosmetic/Unusual and there are maybe 50 bots autobumping 20-80 listings, is there even a point to bumping - mainly for unusuals.
