xdd5000
So basically, this guy added me and asked for my discord. I thought it was sorta fishy but he didnt have a private inv or any neg rep. I gave him my discord and he sent me what appeared to be a paypal image saying that he was gonna give me funds. So stupid me clicked the image and basically 2 minutes later he posted another screenshot saying that he could change my password or whatever. So I was a little nervous at this point but I kept my cool and told him that he could do whatever he wanted, he kept trying to tell me that he was gonna give me a second chance if I helped him with something and I kept telling him to just hack my account, to see if he actually had my info. While I was doing this, I quickly changed my password using the "I forgot my password function" to lock my account from trading for 5 days. Then I told him like "you gotta work on your scam attempts I know this is a fake screenshot" just to see his reaction, he didnt respond, then I told him again that he is a pretty stupid scammer and it was obviously a fake screenshot of him having my info. He proceeded to block me on discord and unadd me on steam. 1.) was the fake paypal image basically a fake scam link that I clicked. 2.) I organized with my IRL friend to trade him all of my items in 5 days when my ban in over, is there anything else? 3.) After changing my password again, if he was a hacker, will that get him out of my account. 4.) Does him having no response to me calling his bluff mean that he gave up, or that he is doing some sort of "plot" Im not too worried about losing my items, I just dont want him to get them, basically. This is the guy btw, https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197980860071 and bp.tf > https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197980860071

If you're unsure, change your password, Then go to https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey and see if u have any api key, if u do delete it 2. No need, this is a common extortion method, he can't do anything to your steam account unless you've clicked a phishing link (if u think u have refer to #1) 3. After changing your password and revoking api key if one is open, he wouldn't be able to get into your account 4. He probably realized u might not go for it. I would recommend not making any trades before u do the steps in #

D.Alex
14 minutes ago, Dinner said: just change your password With a very popular right now Stolen API key scam just changing your password is not helpful. Why would you give a bad advice when Torb above already put a good one?
