mountebank
I was offered 350 dollars via paypal from this steam user for my unus taunt, http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198090552030/ We hired a middleman to help carry out the trade, who is this guy, http://steamcommunity.com/id/ScareCrowOfficialMM/ I give my taunt to the middleman and the buyer immediately goes offline, 5 mins later middleman goes offline. Both have blocked me. I checked both their steamreps before any of this and they were clean, the middleman has over 80 pages of +rep on his profile and is lvl 71 so i thought he was trustworthy. if anyone can explain to me what went down that would be nice
Mrs TS
Neither one even has TF2, so right there you should have been overly cautious. Then add that the 1st guy has a private backpack and yes.....sadly Im sure you were scammed.
rave
you have indeed been scammed, the middleman was an impersonator.
Mrs TS
You should have taken the 180 keys you were offered for it.
Weedoof
Profile rep is literally useless, you can just make alts and have them comment as many times as you need. If you go through them, you can see that all but the last of the comments were made within one hour on Aug 29. Middlemanning isn't actually that useful anyway, all it does is add another step to the process. Get any screenshots of chatlogs and report them to SR/f-o-g. That's really all you can do at this point.
Gren
The 80 pages of rep posts were all made on the same day - August 29th, 2017. That's just one of the huge red flags in this situation.
