If anything, it seems that should validate it further--just buying it to keep means one person values the item, for itself, it at "x" price; buying with intent to re-sell is still a sale, and means they believe the market will pay above that price. At least, that's how it seems to me. Or are you just saying those suggestions are basically manipulation attempts? If you're planning to resell a rare item (particularly one that has not sold in a very long time) you generally need to wait for a second sale if they're reselling to get a range because usually (except in very rare cases like the Dead of Night) it's impossible to determine if the first sale is an outlier or not. That's how it works for high-tier unusuals with not a lot of sales as well, but collector's hats are the best example. Traditionally, this doesn't matter much, because I buy most collector's hats that have been suggested on in the past 3-4 years and i don't sell anything, but now we have this trend. Most people who "buy it to keep" just want the suggestion price higher to make it easier to resell so it doesn't work out. So yes, they're basically manipulation attempts. We wait for second sales on unpriced hats or hats where the sale could be an outlier for the sake of more data points, not to curb some imaginary manipulation. The suggestion you linked to prove your point waited to see if he was keeping it because it was previously unpriced. Please stop using this thread to trash random strangers, if you don't like their price or them you can simply not buy their hats.
