Long story short I was scammed and so were many others. The guy who scammed me is very complex. He has many alts and I have traced where my stolen item went to through the history of unusual. (I don't know if that is the best way to do it though). So I need the help of you guys to help so I can file a report.

How He Scammed Me:

  • Via PayPal
  • He sent a invoice(<--that is a bill) with a message that looks like he sent you funds and that it would take up to 24 hours to transfer into your account

What It Looked Liked:

You've received an invoice

Hello *** ******,

***** ****** sent you an invoice for $170.00 USD.

Note from ***** ******

You have received a Family/Friends PayPal Bank Transfer! This payment $170.00 for the Virtual Item(s). This payment could take up to 24 hours to reflect in your PayPal balance however this payment is fully paid for and is transferring into your account. This transaction is non refundable. Any charge-backs or disputes will be declined by PayPal.

Any help by the tf2 community would be a great help because I want to help keep the community safe and clean from people like this. I have screen shots of the chat between me and the scammer if needed. Is it possible that the people that sold the scammer keys put the +reputation before receiving the money? Thank you.

*Update*

My Anti-Freeze Tartan Spartan was moved from http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198053252981 to idk where. The history has not updated.

If you still have screenshots of the chat, with his name at the top included, (the entire chat, not just where he sends you the invoice) then I can help you draft a report on Fortress of Gamers, (not forum of gamers.)

I can't assure you much closure, as more than likely the people who will be marked are on new accounts and will just switch again after getting marked, but at least you can inconvenience them. You'll want screenies of everything.

I still have the screenshots of the chat. I took them from my phone because I my fraps wan't working. Not the best quality but hopefully still legible. I will get them to you as soon as I can.

The last two aren't alts. They just bought the hat for very cheap from the scammers.

This guy (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198053252981) added me a few days after I was scammed and he told me he bought it with a link to a picture. I was skeptical of the link and never clicked it. The reason for that is that I noticed my unusual in his bp and I thought it was another one of his alts trying to fish me for the rest of my stuff. Next day he blocked me so yeah.  :( But thanks for telling me they were not alts. What should I do with the suspected alt info now?

A quick question. If one or both of them traded with a scammer wouldn't that mark them for trading with a scammer? Unless the scammer wasn't marked back then.
