Whats the law about things like this? Also, do I need to worry about any of this since I live in Canada?

You're supposed to report your earning...etc everything for your tax. Not reporting it is considered tax evasion only difference here is that if you live in america steam forces you to do it.

Eg for me in Australia I have to report my income...etc and trading can be considered a form of income since I'm making money. You will need to look up the tax for your respective country

is this limit only in the US?

Think the limit is everywhere, whereas the tax is for some countries, like australia, US  etc. In my country tax is only considered when you have employee/employer 's relationship or a company involved https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Income_tax_in_Singapore. So i have to fill up the form as well but don't have to report any tax etc
