Go to the users bp.tf profile and then go to the history of their profile and find the date when they had the unusual

If I don't get a history but ''Unknown Item'' is it still possible that it's duped?

Unknown usually means its in a private backpack (<- more likely) or hasn't been picked up by bp yet. So it's possible, but there's way to tell without looking up the item's history.
