Chief Wiggum
Hello everyone, I've been doing some random digging when I found out a Dota 2 moderator, Teeird, had previously been banned on http://www.tf2outpost.com for sharking. I noticed he was still able to make a lot of trades and even managed to become involved with http://tf2shop.net during his time being banned. I am not trying to single him out, but more using him as a stepping stone to my main question. How are users banned on trading sites, trade servers, or even marked on http://steamrep.com still able to find users to trade when they have been negatively cut off from a main part of trading realm? I know in some cases if you are banned from one trading site, then you can just jump to another one. However, I noticed some forum members here report users on http://steamrep.com or http://forums.f-o-g.eu/forum.php for trading with these marked users and I always wonder how they found out. This does not mean how the reporters found out about the trades, since I assume it was simply checking some histories, but rather how the traders with reports against them found the banned users or how the banned users found them. I know some people can obviously make alternate accounts to use trading sites or servers, but I am pretty sure most would start enforcing an IP ban overtime. Anyways, to keep this short...how do these banned users find people to trade? Does anyone know if it is more difficult or challenging to do so? Lastly, which bans are not harmful for other users to trade with the banned account? I assume if someone is banned for repeatedly being rude, then its alright to trade with them, but if someone is banned for trading with a scammer, then is it alright to trade with the person banned for trading with a scammer since there is a level of separation? Heated Bread
They probably trade with other scammers and with people who don't know or care enough to check steamrep. It probably does require a bit of networking, which means making friends with scammers who know other scammers, etc, etc.
1+1=3 ?
According to my understanding, u can trade with people who are banned because of trading with marked scammer but that guy must not be SR marked. However, trading with scammer may result in a SR marked. Therefore, it means that u can only trade with people who are banned because of trading with marked scammer before they are marked. This is the grey area of the law. I would not recommend people do that because this is kinda dangerous.
♠Derpeh♤
How are users banned on trading sites, trade servers, or even marked on http://steamrep.com still able to find users to trade when they have been negatively cut off from a main part of trading realm? Marked on steamrep only really means you lose access to the major trading websites and those websites are only a very small part of trading being banned doesnt really do anything and if they really wanted to move from the ban an alt is easily made. Also many other economies like cs:go dont really give a care about sharks... it's only in tf2 where users hate sharks so much. In cs:go if you get scammed it's your fault, if you get sharked it's because you're an idiot since prices are literally in front of you and users laugh at you. in tf2 users tend to blame the scammer/sharker pushing the responsibility of their own item to others. xlte
I've honestly found it's easier to shark in pubs even after the default private inventory than it ever has been on trading sites or servers, as no one will jump on the offer with you. It's also easy to get a friend to broker items for you while you trade on less-known trading servers and pubs.
Senpai Absol~
Sharkers can still easily trade, or people who are banned off OP ask Venom (Who didn't shark, but was banned for sharking.)
Tobiased
Sharkers can still easily trade, or people who are banned off OP ask Venom (Who didn't shark, but was banned for sharking.) people are still able to use certain servers depending on their ban and trade ther, or coughpremiumcough. they can also scan backpacks or users within the same server or simply scan their friendslist. Wayne and others search for new unboxes. Venom and others can still do that to.
Дебра
I personally do all my trading on the SCM. I have no idea how I'd trade without SCM and Outpost.
