Guest: I'm currently in Bromley private residence hall in the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, and i was wondering if it would be possible to add get Xfinity internet. I'm pretty sure that bromley has xfinity cable, so would i just need to get a modem and internet package from xfinity to get internet?

Guest: i'm just a resident in Bromley, and i'm just wondering if it would be possible to get a seperate connection from xfinity (independant of Bromley). I know with Cablevision you can just get a modem and an internet package, and if theres cablevision Tv then you can just plug the modem into any coax jack.

Jubaid: No need to worry, our technician will visit at your place they will do professional Installation.

Guest: Well, thats the issue, thats not a possiblility. As i'm in a dorm, the only option i would have is to have something i could just plug into the system thats currently in place.

Jubaid: They will set up all equipments, which is required in services.

Jubaid: I thoroughly checked your new address and I see here that the outlet are completely deactivated from previous disconnection order. It is not possible to remotely send a signal or remotely activate any outlet. That is why we really need to send a technician to your new home for you to get a Comcast connection.

Guest: I understand that, but the thing is, as i'm in a dorm, i'm not allowed to change anything. So, i can't have any service people come in and re-do any wiring. The only thing i would be able to do is just plug something in that i can do myself.

Jubaid: Please stay connected.

Jubaid: We truly understand and do acknowledge that you have all the necesarry skills and capabilities of installing the services yourself. However, please be aware that aside from the inside connection that you can handle, there is also an outside connection that only our technicians are authorized and capable of reconnecting the signal from there.

Guest: So, the answer, then, is that its not possible to get an Xfinity internet hookup.

Jubaid: Definately you can get it.

Guest: But i can't as i can't have any service done anywhere in the building.

Jubaid: However, you would require to come the technician on that address.

Jubaid: I perfectly understand that. Please be aware, everytime a customer cancels any services, there are 2 signal pathways that we disconnect. First would be the inside connection that any capable person can reconnect if the address already have an existing Comcast services. On the other hand, there is also another connection from the outside that is disconnected to completely block the signal going to the inside connection. I am afraid only our technicians are authorized and capable of reconnecting the signal outside. We strongly recommend a professional installation to prevent any potential service interruptions in the future.

@Liddo, i'm in a dorm, so i can only get what my dorm supports (and i don't have a clue what my dorm has if its not comcast, and the IT guy is utterly useless so....)

Even houses can only get what they already have cables for. Time warner paid for the rights to my area and no one else is allowed to install cables in the area. So noo fios for me. Or any other cable service that isnt from time warner.

Most places aren't like that. At least not where i'm from in NJ. In NJ i could get cable/internet/phone from anyone i wanted. Satellite, verizon, Cablevision, ATT.

 

Also, i can get comcast here, it would just require a technician to redo some wiring--which isn't an option.
