Vegan T-Rex
So I recently bought a new HDD for media storage on my PC. I installed it, but my computer didn't show it under "my computer". I saw that it did install drivers though. And so I put it elsewhere in my PC for some reason, where it then proceeded to make windows fail to boot. However, rebooting let me boot back into windows, so everything is fine. I then realized that I need to format the drive So thats done. But for some reason, even though I only partitioned it into one big partition, I can only use 931 GB of this 1 TB (~1024 GB) Where did my extra space go? Pyrocide
The formatting of a drive takes some of the space. Also realize that 1TB =/= 1Tb. Its a vicious cycle in windows. HDD manufacturer sells 1TB as 1000GB, Windows OS sees 1TB as 1024GB but since its really 1000GB and not 1024GB, it calculates that as a smaller drive. Try using this formula. 1TB drive = 1,000,000,000,000 / 2^30 = 931.322GB
