Jester
So here's the problem, I often hear things like: "steaming is going up, the arrow is up on backpack.tf" or "blah, blah, hat is going down in value the arrow is trending down on backpack." We are all aware of the problems associated with the USD storage of unusual prices and the fluctuating currencies and the havoc that causes to the unusual price list. I suggest replacing the up/down arrow on the price list pages with a symbol that indicates that the price has been "recently updated". In a perfect system, the up/down arrows would be great to disignate trends, but the reality is that soooooooo many hats are being devalued unfairly over time due to the improper calculation of bud prices that the arrows are meaningless. Examples: http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51b68735ba2536fd0c00000c 4 month update Previous accepted price in buds: 3.6-4.2 Deflated price prior to update: 3-3.5 Updated price in buds: 3.8-4.3 Actual price in buds did not change. http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51b54d564bd7b8441e00000a 1 month update Previous accepted price in buds: 13-14 Deflated price prior to update: 10.6-11.3 Updated price in buds: 13-14 Actual price in buds did not change. http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51b547c8ba2536ba70000028 3 month update Previous accepted price in buds: 10-12 Deflated price prior to update: 8.3-10 Updated price in buds: 10-12 Actual price in buds did not change. http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51b269be4bd7b8e80c000009 3 month update Previous accepted price in buds: 6.6-7.4 Deflated price prior to update: 5.4-6.1 Updated price in buds: 6.6-7.4 Actual price in buds did not change. So not only is this proof that the current system is a miserable failure, it also shows how the majority of the time the green arrows do not indicate a price is rising, it simply means the price is being corrected to what it should have been. Therefore the arrows are usually misleading and a "Newly Updated" symbol would be much better. P.S. Using the arrows on the voting pages is good. It's just dumb on the pricelist pages. Jester
unusual pricing is a mess now, isn't it. More than ever. I think i'm going to give up trying to help the community by doing PCs and just make sure the hats I own are correct. I love updating prices but it's like herding cats..... ♠Derpeh♤
I think this is a decent idea as the up/down arrow encourages speculation, eg the earbuds crash, everyday there was a red arrow and people shit their pants and started jumping ship making the crash that much worse.
