The_Demin Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Every day, I see another robot hat price update, where the item falls again. Many of the hats and miscs have fallen to a craft hat price. What surprises me the most is how fast these items have fallen. Many of them get repriced mere days after the last update, and receive high percentages. So, what happened? Why are these hats dropping so fast? Why are the prices updated so frequently? Are these hats as bad as everyone says they are? Thanks in advance for your answers.
Baloo Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Most of the robohats from the update had counterparts that were already priced at craft hat price, so once the small minority that truly wanted them and were willing to pay exuberant ran out the willingness of buyers to pay anything more than craft price plummeted. Anyone remember when the Balloonicorn used to be worth like 12-13 keys when it first came out and is now worth around 2.33 refined.
Distinctively Vincent Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 This is fairly typical for special event crates. They get opened en masse, the market gets flooded, the items drop very swiftly.
BQE Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 >"OMG NEW HATS" >"They're gonna be limited and extremely valuable!" >"[sELLING] Robo hats!" too many traders doing that. Market gets flooded with sellers, sellers forced to lower prices to liquidate, other sellers forced to follow suit.
Karam Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 people in event unbox crazily resulting in the item to exist in mass numbers resulting the item to drop in price
The Spycrab Risotto Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 It is just like the supply and demand theory
HeavyLord Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 Because most of them are ugly. That is for you, the price depends on the DEMANDS and how much people WANTS them. Say they are super ugly, but people wants them a lot. Like keys are super evil cuz they always give bad items :/ I agree with the suggestor
BQE Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 The value of keys is related to their buying power, not their uncrating power.
Offline Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 No one wants them anymore. That's just it. The ones that still retain some value, such as Bolt Boy, Rusty Raper, and Filamental will end up dropping too.
Jester Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 No one wants them anymore. That's just it. The ones that still retain some value, such as Bolt Boy, Rusty Raper, and Filamental will end up dropping too. Well, the difference is that these are not craftable right? So the comparison should be against items from the other special event crates. The problem is that they aren't unique items, many of them are uglier versions of crappy hats. Filamental, bolt boy, reaper, beak and mask are what i see holding some sort of value. But there are still over 750k robocrates...
♠Derpeh♤ Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Basically due to the hype people were buying these at a very very high price (some were going for 1 key O_O), and after the hyper they realise they have bought a generally shit looking hat and try to sell it off quickly before it devalues even further, and when everyone does this well...yeah It's new everyone wants it, gets old and they want to throw it
