[Help] Bulding a gaming computer!

Hello everyone,

As of right now, I'm using a really crappy computer that runs TF2 with Chris config with 20-40 FPS.

I'm thinking of buying/building a new gaming computer by the end of March and I'd like your opinions and tips on it.

I'd appreciate if someone would show me good CPUs and Graphic Cards to run any game with 30+ FPS.

But it will have to cost less than 1000$.

Thanks for your help!

ati 7770 hd, plays anything you throw at it without breaking the bank, $25 rebate code until the end of the month so its only $90

But if you have the extra money, definately get a Nvidia 560 or 660.

Anything intel beats amd for gaming so if you are on a budget get an i3 ($130) or if you can spare an extra $90 get an i5

Grab an ASUS motherboard right now and get 8gb of memory for free ($150)

This is pretty much my build except for a few small differences (I paid for all of it from tf2 items :) ) you can get a case, hdd, drive, and accessories at your own discretion.

If you play your cards right you can do it in under $500.

Amd sucks for anything gaming. Cheap intels beat out even the best of amd.

Nice set-up but I would NOT-RECOMMEND getting a micro-atx board, you are are setting yourself up for problems if you are not experience with computer building.

AMD isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

Heck the 8350 is just as good as the i5 in terms of real world performance, it even beats the i5 in many games.

And I am an intel guy through and through.

Build this:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K or i5 2500k (the i5 would be basically identical as i7 for gaming)

RAM: Corsair 8GB DDR3

GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX660 Ti or GTX560 TI (Spring for the 660 if you can, i have the 560)

OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

MoBo: MSI P67A-GD65

PSU: Thermaltake 750W

Case: NZXT Phantom

Shouldnt be that much. I remember i built that for 800$ in 2011 but add the prices up yourself. (I didnt have to buy Os)

Hard drive up to you.
I didnt include monitor/keyboard/mouse cause i think you have that already.

One thing. $1000 (£660) and only 30+ FPS? With that kind of money, you can look upward of 80 FPS (AMD Radeon 6850 is a price/performance card - I would recommend)

I know this is an old thread but still maybe someone can find a use for what I post

Ridiculously overpowered way too expensive Dream machine

I have about half of this...

Missing the dual 690s (sli 580 currenty)

rest of the ram (32 currently)

case

and the raptors.

I would recommend 2500k, seasonic 750 psu, corsair 400r, 660ti, 8GB ram, p8z77 mobo, and a crucial m4 ssd + WD black

EDIT:

Cheap Gamer - a little bit over the limit but very worth it

Put Debian based linux on it for TF2 (even better FPS - bout 20% increase - if you know how to launch TF2 from a terminal instead of running xserver in the background)

MoBo comes with 8GB free ram (good enough to start you off)

400r is one of the best cases I have owned

Crucial M4 is the best SSD ive used (tried mushkin callisto and ocz vertex3, apple ssd, gskill phoenix)

2500k is a cheap great gaming CPU - if you dont have any intention on overclocking downgrade to the 2500 save some cash for something you aint gonna use.

Seasonic 750 PSU is a great PSU with plenty of power to do what you need

D14 one of the better (albeit expensive) coolers

try 560 ti. I use it. (250+ FPS tf2, overclocked graphics) Intel i5 3570k

No, you won't get 250+ FPS with a 560 Ti.

Is that 250FPS at the loading screen...i can guarantee that you wont get 250 FPS on a 560ti when my SLI 580s wont get that.
