Hawko
12:36 PM - Vui: Friday, August 01, 2014 9:35 AM - Vui: Sup 9:35 AM - Trade Unusual Hats: hi 9:35 AM - Trade Unusual Hats: u trade u unusual hat on market? 9:35 AM - Vui: Yeah which one? 9:35 AM - Trade Unusual Hats: my friend have a good offer for u hat 9:35 AM - Trade Unusual Hats: check his offer [Outpost Phishing link here] 9:35 AM - Vui: Really.....? 9:35 AM - Trade Unusual Hats: add him plz. he have friend limit. he wait u 9:35 AM - Vui: Its clearly legit 9:36 AM - Trade Unusual Hats is now Offline. My buddy just sent me a chat log of a pretty clever phishing technique. -> They use outpost phishing links now. -> They also use pretty generic trading names like the one above, or TF2Trader -> They will also start adding you based on your backpack.tf classified ads. I've had one do that already. Maybe I'm late, I don't know, but I want all of you to be safe. Me and my friend have traded for a long time, it's our first time seeing this. Blatch
Yeah, you are. But in my mind, if it helps one person learn about these "new" techniques, then you did good.
Administrators OverduePixels Posted August 1, 2014 Administrators Share Posted August 1, 2014 They use outpost links now. Maybe I'm late, I don't know, but I want all of you to be safe. Yes, you are very late. Phishers have been using both Outpost and Steam fake links to hijack accounts.

Sneak
I haven't been getting any friend requests from phishing bots lately. Perhaps because they're all blocked now?

Perhaps because they're all blocked now? you're not even close to blocking them all you can't -- they multiple exponentially every day
Lucas2231
Most of these phisher bots last played a game years ago (Thats if their profile isnt set to private) Phisher bots are commonly found on outpost compared to backpack & Bazaar
Hawko
I haven't been getting any friend requests from phishing bots lately. Perhaps because they're all blocked now? Nah, Outpost had a new feature that actually slowed down the phishers! Check out the changelogs. It is so great.
