Steam continually crashing

Alright, so every time (since I turned on my computer today) I launch Steam, it works slowly for 5 minutes or so, before "Not Responding" and crashing, where I can't close Steam.exe in task manager, and so can't relaunch Steam unless I fully restart my computer, which is kinda annoying, as it will only work for a further 5 minutes until it inevitably crashes again. If it means anything, I am downloading a Source Filmmaker update as I use Steam.

I have never had this before, has anyone ever experienced it and/or know how to fix it?

I'll give out more specifics if needed.

You can stop the "Steam.exe" process via Task Manager. That should work.

As for the crashing, have you tried launching it in Offline Mode?

I can't close it via Task Manager.

When I end the process, it stays up...

I'll restart my computer so I can try offline mode

I'd also recommend saving your steamapps folder somewhere and then trying a fresh install of Steam, since you could have a corrupted file or something like that.

Highlight it then press the 'Delete' key on your keyboard. That will close it

I'll do that IF the problem persists. Hopefully it doesn't.

not 100% certain, but it hasn't crashed yet, so it COULD be fixed

I hope haven't spoken too soon...
