you can just select the polygons you dont want to appear group them and give a command to the poly groups not to appear when there is a usage of another hat.

The mining light hat was only the light itself. The Data mining light has the hard hat included.

Highly doubtful. It probably would've been made a misc alongside the Mining Light if it was meant to be. The Master's Yellow Belt and Soldered Sensei were made miscs on the same update.
