Suggestion making?

It's been a while since I made a suggestion, about three years. TF2Outpost links use to be popular and backpack.tf classifieds were almost never used as proof for price changes. But it seems to be the complete opposite now. When someone posts the history of an item as evidence for their price change suggestion, how are you able to tell what it was listed as? How exactly does the history of the item help???

Screenshots of classifieds are required for suggestions so that you can tell what price it was listed as. Item histories tell whether or not the listed items sold or someone pulled them from the market, etc. For example, if a bunch of listings disappear without item histories it would be hard, if not impossible, to tell if they lowered the prices or the items actually sold.

As a more general comment shifting to classifieds was probably due to a variety of factors, including the introduction of buy orders, etc. In addition, it creates much less confusion because there is a direct value for listed prices, whereas Outpost has notes you can say anything in. In general it seems like people use Outpost less now, especially for lower tier items.

But what if the seller lists the price of an item as one thing, which you take a screenshot of, but unbeknownst to you the seller relists the price much lower making it much easier to sell, which it does. When you check the item history you find that the item sold and assume it sold at the original price shown in your screenshot, but in reality it was sold for much lower. Isn't this method somewhat flawed due to this possibility? Sorry if that was a bit confusing to understand.
