New Computer *Picking Parts*

Hi,

My brother is building a new computer for work, and this is the build so far. It's kind of a first draft but figured I would ask here for opinions. /summon Awesome

He was basing it off an older set of parts, for reference:

https://developer.nvidia.com/devbox

1. Please look over the build and see if anything can be done for cheaper / same quality or higher quality.

2. This is for a company, it doesn't have to be prebuilt, and my brother prefers to build it himself.
3. If you need more details on his work application, it deals with coding and processing at a high level. The quality needs to match what is already create or better, for same price or cheaper.

What the hell is he bitcoin mining?

Seems good to me but i dont know what the lifespan on that HDD and SSD is

GPU mining is way outdated, there's dedicated ASICs for that now

I don't know all the details, but he said he's doing it for extensive coding, and will need the processing speed. (This might not be entirely accurate, but from what I understood this is what he said.) He'd like to keep it under 10 grand preferably; it is for work, so company purchase basically.

First of all you should probably get the details on what kind of work this is, it may actually not require such a grand scale of resources.

Second of all, if the company's paying for it, I'm not sure what their policy would be on custom builds, most likely they'd want to buy something prebuilt.

Edit: Even without details I think this list would make much more sense http://pcpartpicker.com/list/YzrHBP

Clearly this was created with the resources in mind, otherwise why would I put this up? And if that was the issue with the company, why would I suggest building one? I didn't make this post willy nilly. It doesn't have to be prebuilt, which is why this is being posted. I may not know the details to a large extent, but I can already tell you that your list won't work. I'm asking for opinions on the build I have and that that capacity. I'm not looking for a lower tier version.

My brother is the one that picked this out; I did not pick the parts, he built it to the resources he needed.

If it wasnt clear enough....

I'll edit the main post to include a 'easier to understand list' since the simple version was clearly not understandable.

The processor in my list is superior to the original list in terms of processing power. When you say programming and processing the first things that come to mind are CPU and RAM (the RAM in my list can be easily increased to fit needs). What's unclear is why you would need the graphical capabilities of a bunch of Titan X's. The Quadro card I added is admittedly sort of a placeholder, but it is a workstation type video card as opposed to the Titan X which is a gaming card.

I'd probably look into 1080s instead of Titan Xs (unless he for some reason needs the extra VRAM), they are cheaper and as far as I know about the same speed as Titan Xs in professional applications. They also draw less power and therefore produce less heat which can be handy in an office, especially in summer.

The 2015 Titan X is on par with a 980Ti/1070 (A 980Ti/1070 can be overclocked further and become faster due to better coolers/running cooler). So the 1080 is about 30% faster than a 2015 Titan X. The 2016 Titan X, on the other hand is about 60% faster than a 1070 (so 25%~ faster than a 1080).

The Titans never really make all that much sense in terms of gaming performance.

Honestly though, what's your take on OP's parts list calling for a Titan X 4-way for what's said to be a programming workstation?
