I think you've heard about the escrow system in tf2. the certifies you as a person who has to wait 72 hours before their items get exchanged. More exacly, A financial held by a third party on behalf of the other two parties in a transaction. The funds are held by the escrow service until it receives the appropriate written or oral instructions or until obligations have been fulfilled.Securities, funds and other assets can be held in escrow. An escrow account can be used in the sale of a house, for example. If there are conditions to the sale, such as the passing of an inspection, the buyer and seller may agree to use escrow. In this case, the buyer of the property will deposit the payment amount for the house in an escrow account held by a third party. This assures the seller - in the process of allowing the house to be inspected - that the buyer is capable of making payment. Once all of the conditions to the sale are satisfied, the escrow transfers the payment to the seller, and title is transferred to the buyer. So tell me people. WHAT'S SO BAD IN WAITING 3 DAYS BEFORE YOU GET A CRAPPY ITEM IN A TRADE? It's actually better, because if your account is stolen, and you recover your account in 3 day time you can cancel outstanding trades and get your items back. etn Posted December 21, 2015 Share Posted December 21, 2015 Real estate =/= trading in general Why it's so bad is due to traders having the ability to cancel the trades within the 72 hours which leds to a trading cooldown for both parties. This can lead to trolls who just cancel trades for no reason which makes the trading experience just shit. You can argue that it makes trading more secure but all it really does is making so much inconvenience for traders. It was all fine and dandy before escrow with exception of some idiots who fell for obvious scams and phishing links which then led to the creation of escrow in the first place. In all honesty, I agree with you, and I support their new trade system. As a user of the mobile authenticator I feel much more comfortable, because I know if my account gets stolen somehow (im not a COMPLETE dumbass so i dont think it ever will) but its nice to know that Ill be okay if something happens. On the other side of the spectrum.. it does really suck to have someone cancel a trade. Hasnt happened to me personally yet, but imagine getting a really nice offer on one of your items, one where you were getting both items you like, all while making profit. 2.9 days go by, and your pumped as hell because in 1 hour youre gonna get your items, and boom he cancels. RIP. It just sucks. Also, if you were to put it bluntly: We used to be able to make instant trades with anyone. Now we have to wait 3 days with probably 25% of steam users. It sucks in a way.
