Civil Protexan
Soo, we've all heard about it. Know here's what i think why: * To avoid stolen accounts being able to pay and sell back for money. * To make people buy keys from the Mann Co. Store, thereby increasing the quantity of keys, perhaps even lowering it's value a bit, to save the economy. Alongside tons, of tons, of tons of money. ---------- > "even lowering it's value a bit, to save the economy" > u fukin wot m8 u lil returdid kid u no nuthn abut dis shet > Let me explain, keys have risen in price, with huge freakin' rate. Though, not taking all the cosmetics and stuff with them. This results in every profit you potentially make from a trade (1-2 ref) almost worthless. Thus making the time spent on trading not worth compared to buying a key and getting plenty of ref for only a little over 2$. Also, shifting the market to a market full of key buyers, rather than hard working traders. (I'm probably wrong about all this, but please atleast tell me why..)) As Chocolate said, keys are always untradable for one week now. I believe this was instated to, as Valve said, "combat fraud and scams, and to help matain a safe and healthy item economy within Counter-Strike: Global Offensive/ Team Fortress 2/ Dota 2." But personally, I don't really see how this could help... If anything, it discourages the use of the SCM for people buying keys to resell, and nearly advocates the use of sites like marketplace.tf or any other site where keys or other items can be bought and sold for PayPal. Дебра
Valve had a lot of people buying keys with stolen paypal accounts. They didn't like all the chargebacks. They fixed it.

Which somebody said earlier, that means they must have had a ton of this happening for it to become a big enough problem to make a change. This also means the chance of this new policy getting reversed is slim and none. We are stuck with this crap for the remainder of the TF2 future, which blows because yet again this is a case of a "few" (many) bad apples ruining it for the rest of us. Dreadscope
Honestly I kinda think it's for when someone has a fuckup and places an unusual that should have been up for $125 for $1.25. Gives them a week to try to reason with the buyer. Then again when has that ever worked?
KingOfHeart
The only thing this might do, is increase the keys to ref even more, and traders get into paypal trading more to avoid the wait times!

♠Derpeh♤
Valve had a lot of people buying keys with stolen paypal accounts. They didn't like all the chargebacks. They fixed it. Paypal has like 3months to charge back and credit card companies are 3months-6months don't see how a 1 week wait helps at all. Also valves point to defer scammed and hacked items...etc well people would just sell stuff that they have been for years before we had scm, it also implies that their support gets back to you within a week which we all know that's a lie...
