What might be your other conclusion(s)?

Well, some of what has already also been said here as well, but shifting markets, slower trading, slower services, cash out, fluctuating trading luck, increasing trading greed, disrespect, inexperience and it just keeps going unfortunately. Majority of this has always existed, but its only increasing.

that poll isnt really that meaningful, likely skewed towards unusual traders and/or conflates several different trading sectors/styles into one pool

for example the overall market might be doing just fine, but the items you specialize in trading just arent doing so hot

if you really want to find out what the state of the market it, then you should look at the data (lots of it), for example:

- bp.tf price changes trending up or down (aggregated over all unusuals, unu weaps, vintages, collectors etc. respectively)

- bp.tf width of the spead between approved item price (<9 months old) and cheapest current lising (may have to exclude quicksale bots from this)

- steammarket volume + price changes of popular frequently selling hats like Patriot Peak

- unboxing volume changes per event and month

the steammarket data would likely need to be normalized to playercount (unknown error from bots) or better yet to a bucket of popular csgo items

imo the tf2 market overheated in '21/'22 and right now undergoes a much needed correction - which happened before, which always weeded out some of the irrational excesses and shifted things around according to what people truely deem valueable

When you look at it that way, it is absolutely the case. For example, the poll only questions the past year of trading, its a rough statistic of how trading has gone overall the past year.

Yeah, because there is so much of it, we can only give out some examples, since in reality there's countless of data and ways to look at it to make your own conclusion on a particular matter, such as "is this market profitable?", "is trading slowing down?", "how well does this hat sell?" etc. This poll can't even hope to capture data in a manner like that, if someone were to try to do that, I'm not sure how they would do it, but it'd be interesting to see!
