People who follow bp.tf fab prices are delusional.

I'm not going to pay 16ref for a fab that's worth 0.03 on the SCM just because bp prices it at 16 and it's "Team Shine". I get if a new player makes this mistake, but i've seen experienced traders do this, it's annoying. I just want to make the few ref in profit crafting the kits, is that to much to ask for?

I'm pretty sure that bp prices for fabricators are just pulled directly from the SCM, there aren't actual suggestions and separate prices for them.  So anything that's at 0.03 on the SCM should get automatically priced at ~0.95 refined, not 16.  Of course, it's not a perfect world and it's not a perfect system, and it appears that recent SCM sales can temporarily skew the bp prices for fabricators pretty harshly, and can make them appear more expensive than they really are.

 

If that happens and a few people are trying to sell them for inflated prices, just ignore them and buy from reasonable sellers.  Most 0.03 fabricators are very easy to buy for 1 ref or less; 0.03 SCM price means the market is completely saturated and there's much higher supply than demand, so you should absolutely not have a problem finding them.

 

As far as being charged more for Team Shine though, it's clear that you are trying to buy those specifically because they're more valuable.  Maybe not 16 ref, but you have to know that sellers are going to try to get more for those.
