Tips on selling low-tier skins and price check

Recommended Posts

So, I recently got into low tier trading, and got these two items at just under a key for the shotgun and 94 ref for the minigun. I though I priced fairly well, but the issue is that they aren't selling. No one responds to my ads in trade servers or in discord. I've even tried not pricing them and just saying what I'm selling and not taking offers, but that isn't working either.

Does anyone have any tips on selling skins? Also, can someone price check these really quick so I can get a good idea for what things are worth?

Thanks!

If you're going to sell low teir skins and want to move them fast, id recommend only buying FN ones, people seem to prefer clean/unscratched skins to bloody and damages ones. as for selling those specfic ones, id do community market, its near impossible to search for skins on bp.tf

also check the skin ingame for scratches and stuff, the cleaner it is, the more you can get for it

Once, I flipped a skin that I got for a key for 2 keys in an hour.

And paid 4 keys for a skin and sold 7 keys~

Good time

Edited : Quoting person above me. Also, I didn't sell them on scm but for pure keys

Don't listen to the unexperienced here. Buy whatever skins u like and list them and wait. They sell way faster than unusuals but if you don't have a capital of 20 keys I wouldn't recommend skin trading.

The shotgun is worth 1.5

The minigun 2.5

If you want to get rid of them hmu on steam

Best place for pricing and selling skins is steam community market imo

Key for reference

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Mann Co. Supply Crate Key

First one - the minigun:

Can get the same minigun, w/o killstreak for a bit more than a key.

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Festivized Macabre Web Minigun (Factory New)

Same story with the killstreak kit:

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Specialized Killstreak Minigun Kit

Judging by the fact that you have 2 team shine weapons, I'm guessing you've been told TS adds value more than other sheens. The catch is when it mismatches the skin it's on - green doesn't go too well with team shine. And that price buff usually isn't that big of a deal on spec ks because the fabricators are so much more common than pro fabricators.

So considering the sum of the parts to make the same thing being a bit above 2 keys, I'd probably be listing somewhere around 1 key 40 ref

Second one - the shotgun:

The war paint to make this shotgun:

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Nutcracker Mk.II War Paint (Minimal Wear)

Plus a stat clock:

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Civilian Grade Stat Clock

We're just short of half a key.

Killstreak kit:

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Specialized Killstreak Shotgun Kit

So we're at about 1.5 keys to make one just like yours.

Again the team shine doesn't really match, I'd say a little over a key is a fair asking price.

So conclusion is basically you'll maybe be able to make a small profit on each - these will likely both be slow sellers because their value is pretty reliant on the add-ons - so you're waiting on someone who wants an item already in the state it's in rather than a blank slate they can personalize to their taste without shooting themselves in the foot financially.

Skins are a difficult market to get into as a fresh trader - there is a LOT to learn about them and why certain things are valued the way they are. But because of this, if you put the time in to learn it, you can sometimes pull of deals like Bucin did.

Just proving skin trading is quite profitable

Why?

Not a lot people know much about skin value so you can get them for a very low price and sell them higher than you think

*At least, that's what I thought from my experience*

Skins are quite particular to trade since the target audience is very small and usually the people who want them will just go to steam market to buy the specific wear, skin, killstreak they want.

Strategy to sell:  1) Just keep offering on everything (not on terrible skins) and be prepared to get rejected (imo better than getting 0 response)

2) list shotgun on steam market since there is no other listing there for it (no competition)  and put it up for i would say 2.5 keys or 2 keys and focus selling minigun on servers ( mini on community market - 3.5-3.6 keys)

In my experience putting random skins on scm, forgetting them waiting 1,2 or even 3 months is the best way to get it sold - low effort/max profit but long term. seeing as you don't have anything else to sell idk if i should reccomend it.

I like to just buy it

I would disagree with @Alecto that while being true the individual ingredients costs low you can still list the combined item for much more since the person who will be buying might be new/uninformed (without manipulation) or prefer convenience and is willing to pay for it.

Minigun : https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Festivized Specialized Killstreak Macabre Web Minigun (Factory New) - list the price just below the 2nd listing

Shotgun: https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Strange Specialized Killstreak Nutcracker Mk.II Shotgun (Minimal Wear) - no listings when posting this message
