Price Check on Gentlemann's Skin

So I wanted to ask the price of a Strange FN High Roller's medi-gun skin that I bought last year.

I haven't been active in TF2 in any way for the past months, and now that I'm trying to cash out, wanted to ask the price for it.

Saw freelance-grade gentlemann skins having buy orders for 80. could this potentially fetch 1,000 keys?

Crafting cost would be over 1000 keys with current FN Civilian prices over the 10 key mark (only a 25% chance to hit medi gun). Medi Gun is the most desired outcome so 1000 should definitely be possible, most likely even more in a few months.
The 460 sale mentioned by Brown is not accurate anymore with the current Civ prices.

Yes, easy. I even know a guy personally who would pay that. Price to craft has jumped an insane amount recently, and the last sale was probably low, it was Gibson selling and he only sells when someone is going to truly appreciate an item, and will probably give a discount.

In todays market. You can easily fetch a 1000 key offer on that medi gun. Theres a bunch of people who would be willing to fork out that much.

That previous sale is just considered VERY low, don't base your selling price off it.

Wow, these escalated like crazy. Glad I could secure my minimal wear one before it became unobtainable (likely 200+ keys now?), although my hopes for getting the top shelf knife is likely gone. I see even Field-Tested civ grade skins are approaching 1 key.

Man, I really should've been more proactive in my side quest to get a Strange FN Top Shelf Minigun. I'm sill like 934 weapons shy of getting there. Ah, well. At least what I've got so far still looks classy as fuck and isn't gonna lose value anytime soon.

The FN civilian prices were holding pretty steady for the past few months with everyone working Christmas stuff or Halloween stuff, but in the last couple of weeks they have starting moving up again. There were a bunch for sale at like $20, but now it is at least $25 and it doesn't appear that many are available so it could jump quickly.

Damn wtf i was not expecting it to be that much. Is the only way you can get on through crafting?

Yep. Since contract weapons don't come in strange, the only method is to attach stat clocks to the civilian grade ones and trade up. Additionally, to get a Strange Factory New weapon, you need all of your ingredients to be Strange and Factory New as well. The only way to save money is by using Strange FNs from a different collection, but that has the caveat of each one reducing your chance of getting a result from the collection you want by 10%.

Actually, you can also mix wears. Again, simply reducing your odds to get a good wear same as you mentioned for other collections though. You cannot mix Strange and Non-strange.

Not quite true - I did 10x trade ups of 5x BS and 5x FN to test this (also seems to be how a lot of the hardcore tradeup nerds understand it works), all of them either turned out BS or FN. It doesn't average your item wears - it chooses one of your inputs at random and upgrades it. So you could put 1 FN gentlemanns skin in a trade up with 9 FT, WW, BS skins and potentially get a FN gentlemanns out of it. Theoretically, you could use 1x gentlemann skin, 99x other civilian skins and 9 merc grade cosmetics and end up with a Commando grade gentlemanns- it's just the odds aren't at all favourable in that scenario.

Could you not just do 10 stat clock civilians within the collection you want?

Color me misinformed. I had read it was averages. Still, with the amount of investment needed in the first place, it's hard to justify using the cheaper stuff to reduce chances.

That would be ideal, but you see a FN civilian grade skin from the Gentlemann's collection costs somewhere around 6-7 keys, so you would see why someone would not like to go all out on these

For anyone interested in a video example, I did a 100% Gentlemanne's Commando tradeup recently, very possibly the last one ever, and recorded it for people in the future.

I'm happy with my collection. RL=FN, SMG=FT and MediGun=MW.  Couldn't get them all in FN quality (except the Rocket Launcher); but casino themes are my fucking drug I couldn't let them pass.

Lucked into my medigun a long time ago and been wondering the same thing

You see this type of trend it probably can't hurt to hold onto it
