G R O W U P
what do you mean by mainstream? its still very much alive? but if you mean mainstream like having the dedication to still continue trade to the point where even if they put trade bans on each traded item like in csgo, people would trade. Because i think that, although it wouldnt kill tf2, it will significantly hurt the player base but also hurt the bots much much more.
n_n
Regular effects would rise in value again. Right now there seems to be an excess of unusuals in existence.

Brown
TF2 is more popular now than it has been in years, especially on Youtube. I think we've already seen the greater effect on the economy, almost every single high volume item has increased in price, double to triple since at least 2018, if not more. Earbuds are 6 keys right now, it would have taken some nasty price fixing to get that high in 2019. Any more players and you can say goodbye to ref pricing. Refined metal population grew by 25% this year, last year was only 10%.

Figured this was more of a combination of covid inflation + inactive accounts reducing supply since it's such an old school item. 1 hour ago, Brown said: almost every single high volume item has increased in price, double to triple since at least 2018, if not more What high volume items? Most of the highest volume items are monetarily locked to be under a set price due to the mann co. store. Unless you're talking about price in ref which is ref deflation not item price inflation. Exception I guess would be eternaweens because they stopped dropping? If you're talking about common stranges I'd again chalk that up to the combo above and less to game popularity. I must've meant novelties. I'm thinking of collector's, genuine, vintage qualities, salvaged crate stranges, strange festives, some australiums, various unusuals. Spells. I guess it sounds more like standard scarcity inflation now that I'm typing them out, but the money has to come from somewhere. Does covid popularity not count? More people creating more ref, still no real use for it besides being pocket change, I don't see any reason it would be worth more in relation to a key

Plus who knows, maybe valve will add the bread box 2 electric boogaloo.
