Trade Bans are not permanent, but they last for months.

Most are permanent lol. All are appealable if you feel like its a unfair ban and they will look into the specific case to the reason the ban was given and what proof exists, this has been mentioned by the steam support team multiple times before.

The bans that are not permanent are minimal of 3 years unless stated in special cases.

In the end shadows will get unbanned within the next 30 days given its obviously a false ban unless he did card fraud though if that was the case it would be a ghost ban.

This happens quite often for the most popular accounts who get impersonated (best known example is jarool like a year ago).

Someone was saying trade bans aren't permanent, they're not buy most of them last for 10 years. I remember in csgo someone who had 30 kato 2014 capsules got banned til 2024 and he sold his acc to McSkillet so he makes a video out of unboxing those super ultra rare capsules. If he waited a couple of years more he'd be a millionaire

people with expensive inventories scamming people? oh gee that's totally never happened before, he must automatically be innocent!!

Yes, somebody who's invested thousand of dollars and hours and hours of their time is going to take a risk of getting their backpack banned, and thus having a much lower chance of being able to buy goods, or sell it at a higher price, or, in this case, an inability to do any of those at all.

A good demonstration of the importance of structure and wordchoice.

No emphasis was put on the unknown seller, thus he was easily forgotten when placed next to a well defined figure like McSkillet.

Thank you, that was my impression of a substitute teacher that hates his life but can't do anything about it because of his financial, professional, and existensial instability.

It's happened in the past quite a few times, especially with high-level brokers going rogue and stealing all the items they have. They don't care about being banned, since they're fleeing the community with a solid chunk of ill-gotten gains.

As most of you have said, this was a case of getting reported because of impersonators. It's at least the second, maybe third I've had, I can't remember now. I do remember that the first one was fixed very quickly and without any problem. This time, I am getting useless canned replies from support. Seems like things have changed for the worse at Valve. Whatever the case, I will continue to contact them until this is cleared up. Happening so close to a US holiday hasn't helped.

Thanks for the interest, I guess.

Crazy, I would straight up cash out if that happened to me lol, I'd be scared shitless having to rely on valve these days

This same issue that happened with Shadow has been happening with many high tier CS:GO traders in the past couple months. People with hundreds of thousands of dollars or million dollar inventories are getting trade banned due to their impersonators scamming the community. CS:GO traders such as Tibeg, Gr1zzly, and many others. TDM_Heyzeus has a whole video on it. Shadow didn't do anything wrong, it's valve being valve.

Is there any way to request Valve to put you on some kind of whitelist due to so many impersonators?

I would expect Valve to filter out links to other profiles (in profile description fields) by this point - it would require touch of brain and 10 minutes of coding i guess - too much for them :D

The first time this happened, they said they were making a note on my account for just such a situation. It either didn't happen or someone didn't read it. I'm beginning to believe that the actual ban was automated and no one replying either takes the time or has the knowledge required to look into it, they just assume it's right.

Yeah he did. The thing i told you happened in 2015-2016 when he was alive. You can search the video because his channel exists still

Not first time Valve banned due to reports from impersonator victims.

Not even the 10th time, prolly like 100th lol

Edit: I mean like specifically tf2 big backpack illegitimite trade bans, not CS, Dota and all that as well

Impossible even if they cared to, cause anyone can still go rogue, in which case the whitelist will be false

Jarool's ban took like a week to resolve iirc, so stay strong, I've always thought that I couldn't imagine the amount of stress I'd have were I to get trade banned, I'd have mad anxiety getting the ban sorted, heck even when I've been banned on bp.tf due to a misunderstanding I was a bit anxious, cause I had to do shit to sort out something that shouldn't even have happened. What amazes me tho is that bp.tf staff is bp.tf staff and mf multi-billion dollar company staff is multi-billion dollar company staff. How valve messes up so many times is really is beyond me and honestly does scare me. Bp.tf staff make mistakes, but you're talking way more to a wall when dealing with valve, than dealing with the homies @ bp.tf I guess
