Scott Bakula
For a history lesson, that's from back in 2009, when item drops first became a thing. With the new item drop system, people learned of these really rare, legendary items known as hats. Because of the prestige one would have by acquiring a hat, many people resorted to rather than playing the game, using external idling programs to get them. Valve didn't like this and deleted the entire inventory of users who used the programs as a warning, with the threat of a Steam account ban for a 2nd violation. Everyone else got the Cheater's Lament. Â The message itself is encoded as an item to be put in a player's inventory, whereupon it'll disappear once the game is launched. This has been done with plenty of other items in the past, such as with the Tough Break contracts for example.

Ahh yes the good old days where I would leave my pc on while at work and check tf2 items in sourceop to see the items that dropped while idle. Â THOSE were the days sir.
