API hacked

so i had my double spelled demo unus on a few of the normal sale websites such as http://backpack.tf and http://bazaar.tf and stuff like that just to see what offers i may get or if i could get the 25 keys for it cuz that around what i payed for it. So after a few days of it being up i got a friend request from a level 40 steam user her profile was a oriental female im assuming a photo of herself if not a catfish, she also had link to her twitch insta and one other i have since forrgot, i prssed on her insta and forgot it sadly otherwise i would still be able to find her profile but anyways im not super experienced and she was like hey i think i could do the 25 keys for your hat i was like oh okay and my friend was like dudeee u gotta do that deal so i was like super excited and then she was like im at work so i cant check can u get the stats in it im like im not too sure how so she ends up sending me a link to mannco or something which i must have pressed, every website i was on was official though. anyways she kept walking me through the entire process assuring me everything was okay. I sent the item unus to mannco.store to find the stats seconds later im panicking my unusual isnt on the site or in my bp, again she calms me down and says just reload it i reload still no shes like ohhh this happened to me many times if u have certain items in your bp it glitches mannco.store so she claimed my 11 keys i bought the night before were bugging it so me (panicking) like frreaking out is like what do i do she says calm down and then was like do u have anyone on steam u can temporarily send yours keys to i was like no i really dont play with anyone, then she said do u have anyone on list who hasnt played in really long time? i said yes i had a friend who hasnt played in ages she said send the keys to him and confirm but since he hasnt been on it wont accept. 2 seconds later the trade of 11 keys to my old friend accepted instantly and i found out it somehow went straight to the persons hacker bot i was literally like thinking wtf wtf wtf happened thinking wait is mannco.store a scam but no they legit hacked me
not only did she impersonate my friend somehow but also mannco.store

I no longer have a unusual or any keys and i am devastated.

To make matter worse i bought those keys literally the night before as well.

to make matter ever worse right after i quit and then today i missed the game so much i pulled my laptop back out i still had a black gift bringer on my acc i gambled in on tf2hunt ended up having 2 keys and some more stuff after a few goes and then i do one more gamble on the website i had been doing it on then im like wait why is the coinflip not going..... oh wait the hacker routed them to his bot instead at his disposal whenever he wants i finally revoked my api but have nothing please help me anyone

There aint much you can do honestly. Simply learn from your mistakes, and dont fall for it again. Dont get me wrong, it sucks and I feel bad for you. But... unless someone is feeling generous theres literally nothing you can do.

Write an angry (but polite) email about how ridiculous it is that there isn't an email notification or steam guard code requirement to register an API key. Literally the most powerful tool scammers have RN and you'll never know until it's too late.

Look, we've all been there. Its a make or break situation to see if you want to keep trading or give up and toss the game to the back of your mind. However, if you rebuild and get better it really does reduce the thoughts of failure pretty quick.

I'm struggling with how this is an API scam?

Sounds like you ended up with an impersonator on your friend list and gave them the items and then doubled down and gave either the same account (or another impersonator) your keys

@LaughingLollipop it was both I got fully api hi jacked for my double spell I sent it to a mannco trade bot and he canceled and re routed to his bot then he also somehow had a user on my friends which he then impersonated another friend with. Strange how u are struggling to understand it...

Oh, so you just left out one really important thing that could've replaced the entire wall of text

Your trade offers were getting cancelled and resent to a different account.

Makes perfect sense with that information

The part that hurts so much worse is I was having a hard time deciding for like a month if I should spend $20 on keys or not I finally did and my gf approved of it and then next day I got hacked :(

https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Visit that on your phone app (Store > account details > Manage my steam guard) and de-authorize all other accounts, then change your password, log back in on desktop, then double check https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey didn't create a new api key already.

Another maybe useful link to see where your device has been logged in from. Edit: If you see weird login locations with -400 OS type that would be your mobile phone on data.

Links scare tf out of me now haha but I trust u cuz u very nice

Rule of thumb, if it's steam and you have to login, type out the steam site manually and never trust the links. If it's a 3rd party sign in (where you hit the accept button to sharing your unique account identifier) and it's asking you to do a full login with steam guard codes, open steam in a new tab and if you aren't logged in then login on that tab and try the 3rd party login again. If you are signed in on the steam tab and the 3rd party still wants a full login GTFO.

I used to have an AK47 Redline it was my favorite skin but since the prise was raising and our country didn't have good economy one of my closest virtual friends scammed me that skin and I couldn't do anything. Now it's been so many years and I'm still sad about it because the skin is so expensive now! Also that day not only I lost my favorite, also I lost my best friend over it.

It always hurts to think about it and tbh it never leaves you, the thing you have to do is to move on and get used to it or you just hurt yourself more and more everyday

I hope you get back on your feet comrade
