Quick question about Killstreak Kits and Weapon Skins....?

Okay! I got a very dumb question that probably has a simple answer to.

So I was thinking of getting myself a HHH Skullcutter later down the line and I remember seeing a video ages ago about it being compatible with any Killstreak Eyelander Kit and I'm asking whether this still works or not unless Valve fixed it, which I get the impression from some players that they did fix it.

If not, is this the same case with say Nostro Napalmer and any old Flamethrower kits or any other weapon reskins?

Not entirely sure how killstreak kits work with certain reskins, but the wiki does state that

Quote
  • Unlike other promotional reskins, the Nostromo Napalmer does not have any Killstreak Kits or Fabricators specifically made for it, but Killstreak Kits for the Stock Flame Thrower can be applied to it.

However, with some other weapons, just remember that universal kits may have been added to them. But those kits are extremely rare and expensive.

Better apply the kit on a shield and it'll show even with the HHH cutter equiped

Not quite. You still need the headtaker to have atleast a basic killstreak for it to count, but you can have the shield as professional and get that eye effect.

The only killstreak kit applicable to the HHHH is a universal kit. Thats why the price difference is so vast. A tradeable HHHH goes for I think like 15-25 keys, whereas the cheapest basic killstreak HHHH on backpack right now is somewhere around 80 keys. Stranges are 300+ keys.

Unlocked spooky crates contained HHHH killstreak kits (and the strangifiers for them). However due to collector value it can be cheaper to apply a universal spec one than to find a spec HHHH kit.

Universal kit...? So is that a yes with compatability with an Eyelander Kit?

No. A universal kit is a glitched killstreak kit that has no designated item allowing it to be used on almost literally any item including things like cosmetics and crates. As the glitch has long since been patched and most people used them (I used one on my Cheater's Lament for irony's sake), unused kits are incredibly rare and valuable. We're talking like 3-700 keys here.

No, you can no longer use Eyelander Kits on the Headtaker, it was a temporary glitch that lasted about 22 hours during the Gun Mettle update.

Ironically the Gun Mettle update also produced the Universal Kits that other people were talking about, but that was a separate glitch (the Gun Mettle update was responsible for multiple types of glitched items).
