A question about Early Supporter tagged Items

Hello there! I have come with another question, and it's not related to skins this time. I admit, I like the early supporter tag or EoTL cosmetics, and I try to grab them over the normal ones in any circumstances. A couple months ago I snagged this pair of strange snow sleeves with the tag, and I recently was scanning the wiki, which mentioned that the strange quality was only added for this item in the Tough Break update. This has perplexed me, because if I'm not misunderstanding something, that means that this shouldn't exist. Is this assumption correct? Or am I making a fool out of myself in this forum by misunderstanding the wiki. Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I don't see any reference to Tough Break on the Snow Sleeves wiki page?

 

Unless you're referring to the part where it mentions it can be obtained in an Unlocked Crate (Unique or Strange)? That isn't stating that the Unlocked Crate introduced the ability to get the item in a Strange quality, simply that both qualities that were previously obtainable in the EOTL crate are available to be acquired in the Unlocked Crate. It's presumably something copy-pasted on most cosmetics on the wiki, since the Unlocked Crates did introduce strange variants of many other cosmetics that previously were not obtainable in that quality.

 

Regardless, all of the items (excluding the Pool Party taunt) in the EOTL crate were available to be unboxed with the Strange quality on release.

Ahh, thank you. The line that tripped me up was "Added strange quality" in the update history, which was during the tough break update. I saw that, and I mistook it to mean that's when they added the ability to get it in strange.

Yeah that's actually fair, that shouldn't be there because it does imply it wasn't possible for it to be strange in the past. It isn't even a situation where that line was automatically added to all hats available in the Unlocked Crates, because I checked some other EOTL hats, and they don't have that line.

Every EOTL cosmetic can be found with the strange quality in the correspondent crate since the moment it came out (december 2014). The patch note related to the snow sleeves getting the strange quality in the MYM update (july 2016) is either a misinterpretation or a mistake made by the user who is responsible of the wiki page.

I'll suggest the edit later. Who knows, maybe I'll get the wiki cap for my efforts

I've removed the patch note.

 

Also the coldsnap cap, boxcar bomber, winter woodsman, sleeveless in siberia, and hunter heavy. Seems random which EOTL cosmetics received that note but none of them have it now.

tbf, the strange signifier is probably 0 or 1
adding strange quality in this case means setting signifier to 1, regardless of what it was prior, therefore you CAN "add strange quality" across the board to items, even if they already had it
