Unusual Golden Frying Pan found

This person got an unusual (untradeable) golden pan very recently

https://steamcommunity.com/id/JoellyE/inventory/

There was another person who had cancer who received an unusual spine-chilling skull as a gift from the devs after he visited valve for a day.
Maybe this is a gift from the devs because of a similar circumstance? I'm pretty certain that this could be the case...

Honestly, I have no clue how this person got it though. Thoughts?

Definitely given by dev. There was a certain time you could ask for everything from devs  if you solve a problem or something for them like the unusual max hat that delfy has. He's a YouTuber

Delfy doesn't own any Valve awarded item, not sure what gave you that idea.

This is most likely given out on good will to a friend / significant other of a Valve employee as Valve has not awarded items except for the Finder's Fee as part of their bug bounty program in years. Chances are good we'll never know.

think about it, why in the heavens would Valve ever reward someone who makes a living off publishing in-game exploits for the world to abuse

Publishing exploits? More like reporting game-breaking bugs and other oddities to valve through their bounty program, https://hackerone.com/valve

many of these individuals receive finders fees in return for their work, in addition to the payments from valve

The Spine-Chilling Skull (Technically it's the 'Death-Defying Skull') was given to a kid, but not because they visited the office (as a lot of people do that), but because it was part of a Make-a-Wish request. Given this player doesn't seem to have a particularly-connected friends list or steam groups to indicate a close relationship with people at Valve (not to mention this would be an unprecedented gift for the 'team' to give a friend), nor does Valve give out item requests for bug fixes (only effect requests on the Finder's Fee after that pathetic Wiki Cap debacle), I'd wager this is a similar MaW request.

There has been a circling hearts item given to the significant other of a Valve employee in the past but that item has vanished shortly after it got public attention. It's certainly not impossible.

Interesting, I'm surprised I've never heard about that one. Still, I'd point to the seemingly-innocuous friends list as indicative that a personal connection to Valve is unlikely. Not to mention this item seems a lot more explicitly 'outrageous' than an item with circling heart.

The kid has a valve employee on his friends list

Not sure how the heck I missed that...

Welp, it is definitely a possibility that they were given it as a favor or gift then. I'd say fairly unlikely, but possible.

Likely a make a wish thing or similar, which I assume to also be the case with the nebula strange summer hat. I'm assuming if it were via hackerone or the like, he'd have received a finder's fee aswell, or would've likely just been offered the finder's fee on it's own.

He is talking specifically about delfy who may or may not report bugs, but definitely publishes exploit videos before they are patched.

He doesn't realize the max's head is a misc and delfy wears it with a normal hat
