I want to get into trading and I had money but I was stupid so I bought weapons instead of keys

You might be able to refund the weapons if you bought them through the ingame store. But I think that only works for like 48 hours after purchase. If you can, buy keys with that refunded money.

So you spent $50-100 in 50 uncraftable weapons which are worth less than $0.1 (craftable weapons are worth half a scrap = $0.0016 each) ... Such a waste.

Yeah you can't do anything with your actual BP without putting new money into it and buy a sufficient amount of keys to start trading.

Yet, your ignorance about your store experience is telling that you don't know the game much, which is quite a bad start if you want to start trading... Find a niche where to make profits is every day even harder, and you must be aware of basic scams to avoid loosing all...

Financial blunder aside, I wouldn't even focus on trading right now in your spot. Just get a couple more keys (or sell a taunt), and use that to finish getting all the basic weapons and a good cosmetic loadout for everyone, then just enjoy playing the game. If after that, you still want to start trading, then invest another $25+, figure out your trading goal (trading just for profit's sake is a completely terrible and wasteful goal as any actual income from a job would vastly outpace what you'd get from trading in both value and time), and go from there.

if you cant refund them anymore, give up and use this as a lesson about actually looking into things before you spend money on something you dont know anything about, lol.

I think giving up is the worst advice you could be given. Sell your taunt ...and few other stuff thats worth 10-20ref in your invent. Keep checking adds for other taunts..quite often you see people selling them for less tan what bots are buying for. Repeat this until youve made a bit of profit..and then you can start buying small stuff from other people on servers etc...

Take this as a lesson..never buy from store.

If you want to try again and dont want to wait..invest another 25 and buy keys...then try and see if you can bulk buy some stuff...keep trying

I'd wait a month and a half and sell the taunt during halloween for maximum return on it

If you're willing to spend a little more and get one or two keys now, get all the cheap craft hats you can (go to scrap.tf, trade the key for refined, and get all the 1.55 ref hats you can) and hold them until halloween. People use them for transmutes, they'll sell for just short of 3 ref each as it's the only way to increase chances of getting certain halloween hats worth 20+ keys besides completing the halloween contracts. Suddenly you'll have nearly twice as much ref as you started with.

Beyond that, I'd hold off getting into trading until you've been around the game long enough to have a reasonable understanding of most items, keep an eye out for what sort of items go up in price over time, what becomes more sought after seasonally, what's popular etc. Events like halloween and smissmas are probably the easiest time to make profit if you know the patterns and plan beforehand.
