Key bot idea

I was thinking it would be pretty useful to have a bot that you could have added 24/7 and it would periodically look at you inventory and send you a trade offer for keys if you have enough ref in your inventory.

considering how useless ref is now any time I have that much I try to by keys with it as soon as possible.

I know myself and others would certainly be willing to overpay by a bit to not have to add a new bot everytime you have 60 ref in you inventory.

I know nothing about programming or trading do this may be far more difficult or simply not that profitable for the owner but I know it’s certainly a service I would use.

The largest issue would be people being slow. If you were to run such a bot, you'd send out a large amount of trades to people who are not expecting them. They might be sleeping, at work or school, busy with something, or unable to respond for whatever reason. This means a lot of the outstanding trade requests might go unconfirmed for a while. I do not know the exact limits from Steam on outgoing trade offers, I just know that one exists.

If you wanted this idea to be implemented, you'd need to send the trade request after a user interaction. You could probably start a website called do-i-have-enough-ref-for-a-key.tf. People sign in and you load their inventory every 20 minutes. If the user has enough keys, you send them a notification. When the user responds to this notification, you send the trade offer. If someone wants to build this, have at it. I'd sign up for sure. No matter if your rate is one or two scrap above the sell listings of other bots. You flip the ref immediately and make a little profit.

oh so you're willing to overpay for some keys in ref but just not enough to buy keys from big sites that sell keys for ref

I think OP just wants the convenience. Having ref rot and lose value is a real concern. The price can be slightly more than market rate (if it couldn't you wouldn't have a business model).

Also, don't forget that buy orders can randomly disappear if you don't have enough refined (i.e, buying a hat for 5.5 keys, but you don't have .5 a key in ref, so your buy order becomes invisible). I think it's at least somewhat handy to have refined on you at all times.

your point is that you want this to be automated, correct? Instead of you having to know when you can buy a key, a bot should reach out to you when you have enough. Am I on the right track here?

Yeah thats what i was thinking
