Corndog
Normally, I don’t need advice on this stuff, but this just has a few things adding up. Person offering on my unusual has two aussies and an unusual in their inventory, no big deal, but they have under 150 hours in tf2, and their class stats don’t add up at all (I know you can reset stats but still). Their profile is littered with “-rep cheater” and one dude called them a scammer recently, who has a decently high level. No reports on backpack.tf have been made however. They are offering what I asked for (20 keys), however, just yesterday (last time their backpack.tf profile was scanned) they had 2 (which they could’ve just bought ig). Just a bunch of small things that make it feel wrong. Not sure if there’s a way to make items appear as something they’re not but idk. Whole thing feels off? I know there’s a rule against rejecting offers that match what you listed them for, does this still apply here? I did not link the users profile in case I’m wrong. Any help would be appreciated. Zeus_Junior
If you’re able to provide a valid reason/concern why you declined the offer you’re good in terms of the rules. Without looking at the profile the trade looks normal? Keys for items, nothing weird there
Shotgun
Don't even bother trading with scammers, it will just wasting your time and you will probly get banned from doing it too
n_n
Unless you have proof of something bad I think you have to accept the buyout or risk getting a negative trust rating. You never know, they might have bought keys off marketplace to buy your hat.
TheTexanBuzzsaw
At least through my limited Unusual trading, it just naturally feels kind of sketchy sometimes. My advice to you is to go to an Unusual trade server. Most of these servers are controlled by reputable admins who do their best to control scammers, and the vast majority of people on these servers are legit and experienced. In terms of detecting a scam, there’s a couple good rules to keep in mind. First, if someone is offering way higher or way lower than the Bp price, that’s a red flag off the bat, especially if the price isn’t recent. The second tip is something you already looked at, their profile. If you see a lot of “- rep” or things like that, that may be an indication of them not being the best to trade with. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, just something good to keep in mind. Hope this helps. Stay Safe.
ksolis01
They probably bought keys off marketplace. The only time that items could be faked was when that game appeared that allowed you to fake tf2 items but that's been patched. If you hover over the key and it says 4,000 ish or some number sold in the past 24 hours at $2.40 ish, it's real.
