Scammed by Steam/Valve?

Recommended Posts

I made a trade with another user, my unusual hat for his 45 keys.

The trade went through and the hat was removed from my inventory. The person I traded with received my hat, however, I only received 3 keys from the trade. Then, all 3 keys were automatically removed from my inventory.

I have no history of this transaction in my "trade history" page, so I clearly didn't just trade the hat away for nothing. I can see in the inventory history where the hat was removed, 3 keys were added via trade, 3 keys were removed via trade, 1 key was added via trade, and 1 key was removed via trade. However, none of these items being added or deleted show up in my trade history.

Has this happened to anyone else before? I contacted Steam Support on this issue, but I wasn't sure if this was common.

How long ago was this? Steam sometimes shits itself, but steam itself definitely did not scam you

This was about 4 hours ago. Obviously they didn't literally "scam" me, but my items definitely were not exchanged properly.

You can try look at your "Inventory History" instead of "Trade History": https://steamcommunity.com/id/IdiNium/inventoryhistory/ (this will be redirected to your Inventory History page)

Yup. It says the item was traded away, which is obvious as the new owner has the item currently. But the issue is that there is no trade history for the item.

Hmmm, not so sure about this. Hopefully Steam will reply to your support ticket soon.
So far from the bptf inventory history, I can see the item was indeed traded away, but I don't see any keys got removed from the trade partner's inventory, but instead, he received exactly 45 keys, not from you (probably because he sold something to the bot).

Maybe try ask him for confirmation? Or question yourself did you really accepted the trade with keys on their side and the item on your side?

Don't panic, it happened to me as well. One time I bought an unusual, and I got spooked when I saw it wasn't even in my inventory. I thought I got scammed somewhere somehow but eventually the item appeared back in my inventory. No clue why or how it happens, but yeah, it does time to time
