Prof. Brown
Hey there, I just got some steam gift cards recently and I wanted to get into trading. I want to get the most bang for my buck so I'm asking you guys where is the cheapest place to buy keys? the steam market right now is over $2.50 and marketplace.tf needs a paypal account which I don't have. Are there individual sellers who sell for cheaper than the market value? and how would I make that exchange with that seller without a paypal account? Strange
If you already purchased the Steam Gift Cards then using Steam Community Market is probably the only place you can buy the keys from
Alecto
Well if you've got steam gift cards, I'd advise just buying your keys either from the in game store or steam market, whichever is cheaper for you. If buying from mann co store, definitely buy the case keys instead of the regular keys because you can trade them for a key + some refined, I recently sold some wicked windfall keys for 1 key 7.88 ref on scrap.tf, check which ones have the highest buy prices and grab some of those. There are people who sell keys for lower rates but they want cash via paypal usually. Steam gift cards are seen as a super high risk form of payment (or just straight up scamming more often than not), and between that and steambux not being real money, most people will not take it. stoutman245
To be frank with you OP, I don't think any knowledgeable trader would accept those gift cards in a regular trade (unless maybe you went first of course). Def. your best bet is to wait until the keys drop in price on Steam Community Market. I'd also like to further this topic by saying that currently, the use of PayPal to buy and sell keys on the peer-to-peer end seems to be...well "dwindling" for lack of a better word have become one of the many main forms of accepted payments used by traders. A good number of seasoned key sellers are accepting/requiring payments in the form of services like Zelle, Venmo, Payoneer, Crypto, to name a few (all of which I know jack squat about). This claim is based on threads advertised on the Cash Trading sub-forum. There might be some easier options out there besides PayPal if you ever decide to buy keys directly from people or other websites.
Flamadin
Use a buy order to get an aussie, and trade that aussie for keys.

Yeah don't try and "trade" the gift card to someone, fake Steam gift cards are a common scam attempt and no one will wanna do it
Prof. Brown
okay, seems if I want to get the most out of the gift cards I'd want to buy season keys or wait for the scm price of keys to go down. Thank you guys.
Slam
No trader / cash trading site is gonna accept steam gift cards for keys sadly. I'd recommend you buy case keys from the in-game store, check which ones you can buy and see how much they're selling for on backpack.tf, as some can get you a good chunk of extra refined. Avoid the SCM, as keys are pretty much always 2.45-2.55 USD on there barring a steam sale or a big movement of keys through SCM. Better to put your money through the mann co. store so that it raises the chances of Valve caring about TF2 by like 0.000001%.
