This may come off as a dumb question,as I mainly stick in the shadows trading amongst people I know.Ive already got some other opinions but why not throw it out here aswell. Are they trustable and do they hold any value at all???

Do bots have value?  Of course, otherwise people wouldn't pay others to set them up and such.

Are they trustable?  Depends who you're getting the bots from I guess.

In my opinion, in order to make real money. Like good money, try not to copy others. Find your own path to success.

The bot market is super competitive. Low margins for your effort, and you run the risk of your bot breaking or a game breaking bug.

tf2’s economy has been growing stale ever since the crate depression or even before that.

so in my opinion it’d be foolish to invest more into this game. I still trade for fun but that’s it. Do it as a hobby. That’s my 2 cents.

Appreciate that.I should've clarified a bit;Im mainly referring to the bots you see dominating the page when you search for a specific item on backpack.tf. The kinds that have 5000+ refined but 0 trust ratings and a normal steam rep. Those types.Hope it clarifies

You can find good deals on quicksells to buy if you check very often. For selling, not so great unless the price is in your favor for a otherwise hard to sell unusual.

Appreciate that man.Ive never had much an interest in taking on the market, mainly just getting what I want and getting out.Ive mellowed out of tf2 in recent years, but im starting to play it again. That being said,Im more trying to sell some of the things left around in my inventory worth value since I'd rather have the cash instead of super-hot-csgo-lotto-epic-swag-2000$-knife-i-bought-in-2016 sitting in my tf2 inventory collecting dust.

If you're just looking to cash out, don't bother renting/buying a bot.

I'm still confused.

Are you asking if trading with the bots is trustworthy? They use steam trades so as long as you double check your trade offer when confirming you aren't gonna get scammed. Backpack rep is only used for cash trades, the bots have no reason to have this rep.

Are you asking if buying a bot is safe? Depends on who you buy from although learning how to code your own might be a fun side-project to learn a new skill if you have the time.

Are you asking if owning a bot is safe? Not 100% as Vagisil said, an economy breaking bug can appear whenever or people can manipulate your bot if it's setup with competitive pricing and doesn't have any safeguards. Again recommend the self-code route so you can self test edge cases and know exactly what your bot is programmed to do.
